My companions and I visited the restaurant after a delightful walk to Wistman's Woods on a Saturday. The staff were friendly and efficient, and despite the busy atmosphere and our lack of reservation, we were seated in the restaurant. The menu offered a variety of options, all of which were delicious. Paired with the locally brewed Ale, our lunch was truly memorable. We returned in the afternoon after another long walk to enjoy their delectable scones and tea, and even purchased a souvenir pack of their Ales. On Sunday, we returned again and though the Sunday roasts were fully booked, we were able to find a seat and enjoyed a light lunch menu featuring a homemade sausage roll, quiche, and a mouthwatering soup. Kudos to the chef for their skills in the kitchen!
The dinner menu is limited at this restaurant, offering a glimpse into the last stronghold of Nouvelle Cuisine. The cooked breakfast was of excellent quality, but I have never been served such small portions before - half a piece of black pudding, a hogs pudding the size of a thumbnail, one egg, one rasher of bacon, one mushroom, and a chipolata. It might be a good idea to bring sandwiches as well.
