During our staycation to Devon we tried at a couple of local pubs for an evening meal but they were full. Luckily for us we found The Fox and Hounds. From the outside it’s not the most attractive of pubs and the interior needs modernising but this all adds to the quirkiness and charm of the venue. The host was very friendly and charming. I had the sea bass and my partner had the cottage pie. Both of our meals were ve... View all feedback.
What Chris D doesn't like about Fox And Hounds:
Called in for lunch last week and informed them I was a celiac and required a GF meal. There were 2 GF options. We ordered our meals and paid for them. After a short while the waitress appeared and asked how much flour I was allowed, to which I replied none so could not have the pepper sauce. She also said the chips were all cooked in the same oil, so not able to have them either. So I opted for the other GF option w... View all feedback.
Stayed 3 nights over the weekend and had a great time. Food and service is fantastic, everyone was so friendly. Rooms are lovely, we had the family room which was very spacious. Could hear some laughter every now and again from the pub below on one night but our white noise machine drowned it out easily and it didn’t last long. My daughter also loved the cows in the field next to the car park!
Went to this small, quite remote pub for an evening meal. The pub was busy with many locals enjoying meals pints. The menu had a good selection of meals to suit all tastes. The meals were well cooked with good portions. The staff were friendly helpful. Can recommend the Venison Casserole. Well worth a visit if you are in this area.
What a lovely pub, good food great atmosphere and we brought our dogs which they liked the garden. Landlord was funny with other customers who we where near. Definitely recommend and hope to revisit
Landlord didn 't warn us about the large 'protected minority ' group in the camping field that started lighting fires, even though the top rule was no fires. Took our money and threw us to the wolves. When my 65 year old wife politely pointed this out, as everyone was getting kippered, she was beaten to a pulp by one of them. Police and ambulance were called, we had only been there a couple of hours. The staff were great but the hand wringing landlord was too frightened to do anything about the situation, didn 't even offer our money back. No contrition shown by him when contacted later, just mealy mouthed platitudes. Won 't be going again.
Headed for a walk, bike ride, or horseback ride on Dartmoor National Park? Need a place to stay close to Coombe Trenchard? This is your place! Great food, clean rooms, helpful staff, this is a great place to eat, stay, and base out of.
