What GlavumTraveller doesn't like about Farmer Luxtons:
We have visited this Licensed Cafe several times and have felt that they have been moving down in quality versus price. Our latest experience confirmed the Penny pinching along with an infringement of licensing legislation. Charging for tap water contravenes alcohol licensing! Even though the... View all feedback.
The breakfast was excellent and the coffee was exceptionally good. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was friendly. Definitely worth a visit! Will come back again when in the area!
We have been regulars at Farmer Lutons for a long time, but were disappointed during our recent visit. One of us had a late breakfast and found the sausages to be lukewarm, the bacon appeared to have been sitting out for hours and was curled up and dark red. The hash browns were oily, cold, and mushy in the middle. The eggs were soaked in oil and did not seem freshly cooked. The beans were warm, but everything looked like it had been hastily thrown onto the plate. The ham on another dish was thinly sliced to the point of being transparent. The chips were hard and cold in the middle. We believe that the frequent changes in staff and cooks may have contributed to the decline in quality. Unfortunately, we will be avoiding this restaurant in the future.
Took mum for breakfast, small breakfast for mum, large for me. Mum wanted the sausage replaced with rasher of bacon. Staff said no problem, but then continued to not only charge me for the full breakfast added £1.90 (ish) for the bacon. I double checked and asked surely they can just swap the sausage for a bacon rasher and the cost would be the same as a small breakfast. No, apparently not. In the end I got the sausage put back on, removed the extra bacon, paid the normal price small breakfast and swapped one of my rashers with a sausage… I’m not quibbling about the cost of the breakfast, happy to pay a premium for quality, but really….
I decided to stop in for a quick breakfast sandwich, but it turned out to be anything but quick. Despite not being very busy, I waited 30 minutes for a bacon sandwich. The staff seemed disorganized and I had to wait an additional 10 minutes for an egg. They also seemed clueless when I asked for butter on my bun. There was no customer service and they were not helpful at all. I used to be a regular customer, but the quality has gone downhill in the past 5 months. They need to improve their customer service and overall management. I didn't complain at the time because I just wanted to get my food and leave. I doubt the staff would have been able or willing to help. I will give them another chance, but I hope they can do better in the future.
Gluten free options. We came in for a blow out breakfast and that is what we got. I even had GF sausages with mine, which is a rarity (so often the GF sausages are veggie sausages and I am not keen). The one missing star is the hash browns were a bit oily. Otherwise a fantastic breakfast.
