While many diners rave about the generous portion sizes and quality dishes, some express concerns over high prices and inconsistent service. The welcoming atmosphere is often highlighted, complemented by a cozy fireplace, perfect after a long walk. However, experiences vary; some have noted a lack of attentiveness from staff and management. Overall, it remains a popular choice for quality meals and local ales, making it a worthwhile stop for visitors exploring the beautiful surroundings.
This is a wonderful location to stay and explore Dartmoor or go on adventurous drives with Clydesdales. The dining experience was excellent, both for dinner and breakfast, with cozy fires at both meals. The bedroom was comfortable and warm, and had a small terrace where you could enjoy watching the sunset. The hosts were very accommodating, and we wish them all the best for the summer season.
The restaurant has a lovely ambiance with beautiful gardens that look even more stunning in sunny weather. The portion sizes are generous but the prices are not cheap. However, customers definitely get what they pay for in terms of quality.
The restaurant is in a beautiful setting and has a lovely atmosphere. I went with my mother in the afternoon as she lives close by. She had recommended the pub, but unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. The food was good, but the prices were too high for what we received. The gardens were beautiful, but they would probably be even better in the summer. There was litter in the surrounding areas which made it look untidy. The pub could do with some renovations, maybe a fresh coat of paint. The owner, who was serving behind the bar, was not very efficient. He seemed to be rushing and did not provide good service. When we left, I politely mentioned our dissatisfaction, but he just thanked us as if he didn't care. We didn't spend much money there. The waitress was wonderful, it's a shame she has to work for such a bad boss. Overall, it was a unique and disappointing experience. There are better pubs in the area that are worth visiting instead. It's clear that the owner does not value customer satisfaction.
Overpriced very average eating, which seemed to be almost too much annoyed to cook and had arrived a long time. the renter was really rude for some of the customers and in all of them uninterested. his main concern was that his television agreed. look at them. their change. After I left the pub, I discovered that I had changed for a while. an honest mistake? you decide. shan has not returned, although it is quite local. I'm going to mary tavy inn instead.
Great little pub, excellent food. In the evening we had two fish pies, haddock rarebit and steak. All delicious. So much so we went back the following day for lunch. The baguettes are huge and delicious too.
