Almost 5 stars... The food is absolutely amazing and has the traditional Malaysian taste. The ambience is somehow outdated. Otherwise I gave him the full 5 stars. Food wise it deserves 5 stars: View all feedback.
What Justice Heathcote doesn't like about Penang Malaysian Cuisine:
Good food for a very long waiting period. Had to stay there for 1 hour or so that only the first dish arrived. After about 2 hours, I finally got everything I ordered. Then the bill was about $145 for a so long wait for good food. Pros: Good food. Cons: Very long wait. Warm. Very bad place, would never come back here again. View all feedback.

Many SE Asian dishes here. I am from Singapore, so can provide some comparisons. Beef Rendang was very tasteful. Not as spicy as some places like the Indonesian restaurant Banana Leaf in Temple City. The meat was soft, so I liked it. The beef return in PanAsia at Garfield is bad when compared to Penang Malaysian Cuisine's or Banana Leaf's. 2. Court tried Sambal Sotong (Squid). The Sambal was excellent. Sotong wasn't hard. Nicely balanced, not too spicy, and allows the Sambal taste to get through. The baby Oyster Omelet is made in bright soy sauce. I can't say if it's fish sauce. This is like???not the one with tapioca flour?. I haven't found a restaurant yet? around the area of Los Angeles, so I'll continue to torture myself. Next time I try other dishes.
Having lived in Malaysia, I am quite knowledgeable about Malaysian cuisine and I have to say that the food at this restaurant did not meet my expectations in terms of authenticity. There were important ingredients missing, to the point that even my friends noticed. We requested our dish to be spicy, but it turned out to be quite mild. Despite being the only patrons in the restaurant, our food took a while to be brought to our table. On a brighter note, the drinks, particularly the Malaysian teas, were well-prepared and enjoyable.

I made a reservation for 3 people through Open Table and received confirmation via email. However, upon arrival, the hostess informed me that they do not accept reservations for parties of less than 10 people. I had to wait 15 minutes for a table. It was frustrating to use the reservation feature on the app when the restaurant doesn't honor it. The service was slow and lacked a personal touch, leading me to question if it was worth leaving a tip.
