El Coco Loco - West Chicago

This is my first time leaving a review for a restaurant my experience here was AWFUL! I ordered a veggie taco salad asked multiple times to make sure. This was also my first time at this restaurant. I am used to orders being messed up when it comes to vegetarian times. I called them on the phone to let them know that my order was incorrect there was chicken in it. Over the phone, the woman was telling me she put veggie in it should also be on the receipt (the receipt only said taco salad). I came in to exchange it repeated what I said on the phone. The older gentleman says, “are you sure?” I’m sorry what? He proceeds to question it a few times! I’ve never had that happen to me before! Tell me why I would drive 10 minutes back to exchange it or lie about it? Then he comes back out with utensils digs through it to show me I’m wrong. If I am, I’ll be the first to acknowledge it! I told him I ate something it makes NO SENSE for me to drive back if there was nothing wrong in it. I told him he was being extremely rude how I’ve never been made to feel like this. The way he was also talking about how he wants to make sure this doesn’t happen again I agreed with him while also telling him how inconsiderate he was being by assuming I wasn’t telling the truth. I told him he should have started with that part vs. the first thing he said by saying “are you sure…” I couldn’t even get a word in! I’m sorry, but in all these years I’ve never been questioned about meat being in food treated like this! I’m perfectly fine with having food remade if there is meat in it know that mistakes happen.

The customer service is terrible the way they talk to people on the phone is unprofessional!

Love Coco Loco but lately they’ve been “off.” Went in for our anniversary and caught a fly in my drink. The waitress was rude and dismissive about. Ok, fine. Then when chips came out, the salsa they put on the table was spoiled. Strike 2. I always order the Tampiquena… they USED to cook it to absolute perfection. I have never had a more rubbery steak there. Strike 3 ALL IN ONE VISIT. Not sure what’s going on anymore, and GOD FORBID to try to DISCREETLY draw attention to the issue only For the owners to become downright disrespectful. Granted it was 5 de Mayo, and I understand they were busy but NONE of the employees seemed to be able to keep their cool. This was a disappointing experience for sure. Kinda sad, really. I do hope to enjoy them again one day. They just need to get their act together a little better. ?

We stopped in one night about 40 minutes before closing and we were in a hurry so we just got a quick bite to eat. I had the tacos de pescado and my boyfriend got the steak fajita burrito. Both dishes were absolutely amazing and our server was delightful! We will definitely be back soon to try some of the other more elaborate dishes on the menu. Definitely recommend checking this place out.
