Babar - West Berkshire

We enjoyed a variety of mezze and some delicious fries at this restaurant. The fries were the perfect accompaniment to the extensive selection of gins available at the bar.

I had lunch at this restaurant and it was disappointing. I had ordered a set menu with 5 plates and coffee. The chicken goujons were very greasy, none of the dishes were hot, the fries tasted stale and were definitely not freshly cooked. The only thing I enjoyed was the beef, but even that was lukewarm. It was fortunate that we did not have to pay the full price.

I dined alone at the bar and had a pleasant experience. The staff were very friendly, the fish and chips were good, and there was nothing that particularly bothered me. The menu was short with basic choices available.

We enjoyed a nice lunch here in the well-designed garden on a sunny afternoon. the menu is beautifully varied and we all enjoyed our eating (three hausburger and a veggie fajitas, £12-14). we spent a very cozy three hours at lunch on...a Saturday with a few other groups in the garden, but a lot of space to enjoy a bit of private sphere. the food came fast and the staff was polite, but seemed very cooled to the point of lack of good customer service. we had to ask that the table be wiped, but the type was very ready as soon as it was pointed out. I would certainly go back, but would love it if the servier staff were a bit more buzz.

We had an excellent roast. Pleasant bar setting-not sure about the sport on television, but sound must have been off. We could have had the same meal in the Dining Room. We thought that the meal was excellent value and a local told us that...the food is sourced from an top rate local supplier. It certainly had a good flavour.
