The extensive wine list is both overpriced and lacking in availability. While some diners enjoy the food, others find it overpriced for what it is. Overall, if you are staying at the Saddlebrook Resort, Dempsey's might be worth a try, especially on a quiet night. However, with the ongoing renovations and temporary location, the dining experience can feel cramped and lacking in ambiance. Celebratory occasions are well-catered for, but improvements in service and dining environment are needed to reach its full potential.
My husband and I have wanted to try Dempsey’s for a while and went with another couple. We enjoy a good big end steak but the whole experience was disappointing considering the price point of the dishes. It was on the side of a sports bar, the service was very delayed and not very attentive, the food was mediocre and the steak had very little flavor. The Cesar salad was the best part of the meal. Won’t be back, there are plenty of outer steakhouses with similar price points that are truly incredible. Skip Dempsey’s and head south
Our servers were friendly enough, however they barely paid attention to our needs and it took forever for us to get our entree, our dessert and our check when the night was over. The food itself was fine, but not fantastic and certainly no worthy of the price tag. Then appetizer was scallops atop a weird banana mush. Separately, those things would taste good but together, it didn’t mix well. The steak was decent, but again, not worth the price. The dessert was a carrot cake and was actually not good at all. It tasted dry and the cream cheese icing wasn’t tasty. I think I would’ve found better carrot cake at the bakery in a grocery store. Given the hype around the restaurant and the prices, I was assuming it would be a great meal. Sadly it didn’t quite live up to the accolades
The food was fine not amazing, but good. The filet minon was tasty and properly cooked, and the diver scallops with linguini were fresh and flavorful. But it’s a bit overpriced for what you get. The problem was the service, which was friendly but extremely slow the restaurant was packed and they apologized that the kitchen just couldn’t keep up with the volume of orders. It was over 90 minutes from the time we sat down until we eventually got our entrees. If you’re staying at the Saddlebrook Resort, Dempsey’s might be worth a try, especially on a slow night when the kitchen can presumably keep up. But I wouldn’t recommend that Tampa residents drive out of their way for this place.
Very rude, vulgar group seated next to us ruined our evening.
Except service, excellent food. Ambiance needs refreshed
