When we arrived in the evening there was only two couples eating there and the restaurant area was brightly lit. We decided to still go in and give it a go. Really wish we had not as the food was horrible. We both had a different soup to start and they both tasted of salt. I could not eat any more than a couple of mouthfulls. For main course I had pork schwintel with chips. The pork was tough and greasy and the chips were also to salty to finish along with the mushroom cream sauce, you guessed it also full of salt. My husband had a dark sauce with his meat again too salty.Neither of us could finish our meal and we never even got offered a coffee or desert. Not a good experience and we have had some excellent meals in Wernigerode

The staff is friendly, and I can't say enough good things about the food. A definite 'not to miss' place!

Frau Schmidt and daughter, Carmen preside over a homely bar serving excellent German food at reasonable prices along with excellent German beers. Do try the Schwarzbier [black beer]. Bar tends to close when the last person falls off their stool! Looking forward to my next visit.

Quaint atmosphere, delicious food at very reasonable prices, and uncomplicated, friendly service. Highly recommended!
