Next to the famous Folkwang Museum on the Museum Square is Vincent & Paul restaurant that stands out for its stunning modern architecture. The interior is modern and oriented at the convenience of the guests. In this way they created a very pleasant atmosphere. In descriptions we read that it would offer a menu with predominantly Asian influences. But that's no longer the case, the menu is rather italian and french of origin. We had a 3 course menu for € 45.00. What can we say about it: good products, excellent prepared and vicely presented, but ultimately not so surprising or so innovative as we expected. The staff is well trained and friendly.
We went to this restaurant whilst in essen for a wedding. The food was spectacular and the maitre d' was very helpful and spoke very good English! We had scallops cooked in three ways which were divine and quail tempura which my friend said was very good, and of a generous portion! Main course was lamb for me, Veal for one friend and sea bass for the other. Again each meal was tasty and beautifully presented. For desert we had chocolate mousse, strawberry and rhubabrb gateaux and ice sorbet. My friend didn't like her sorbet but we both enjoyed the other 2 choices. The wine was reasonable in cost and we had a Vincent and Paul cocktail before the meal. There were at least 5 or 6 members of staff working that eveing (you can see the kitchen) including a very good pianist. sadly we were the only diners present which made it a little lacking in atmosphere, but we enjoyed ourselves! The cost was 225 Euros before service which is a lot for us but we all felt the quality of the food, service and setting made it worth it.
We ate lunch after visiting the museum. Lovely interior. Great service. Nice selection of food items including salads, soup, pasta, etc.
Had a sausage and bread and two beers here. Beer not good very small and cost an enormous 3.30 only because they have a very captive audience in the museum itself. Why do they get away with this and always milk it when they have us as captive audience. captive being the operative word ?The curry wurst was actually not that bad but the beer too expensive and the curry wurst also just about acceptable on price at 4.00So sausage OK and beer poor.
After a coffee in the inside Cafeteria (which was ok - but not really unique) we wanted to leave for another place to have lunch. But with interesting dishes on the Advertising we had a go. And we are all satisfied and impressed. Great experience, very tasty and the prize was ok. Very good service too. We will go again.
