Deze bar restaurant ligt bij de aankomst van de wereldbeker afdaling. Mooi terras om iets te drinken, maar nog mooier om iets te eten in de zon. Reserveren aanbevolen op zonnige dagen. View all feedback.

Unless you hit a day with a daily special you crave (e.g. Quail on Sunday's), or want cheese in some way shape or form you might find the choice very limited. Our table of six had green salad to start - very disappointing for 9CHF each (living in CH we know what we should expect). 2 x Macaroni (was good), 2 x Vegetable Soup (was ok), 2 x Potato soup with sausage (and my personal choice) was poor, tasteless soup and o... We hike across Wengen annually to Mary's Cafe with the seasonal hope that the food has improved since last year. Sadly, not has not .

We ate twice during the week and enjoyed both meals. The restaurant is at the finish to the Lauberhorn downhill course. The experience was helped by sitting outside in blazing sunshine in t-shirts even though it was mid February. Service was friendly and quick bringing extra bread and drinks quickly when we needed it. The food is traditional mountain food and we all found something to our taste with a party of 4 ages 14 to 52. When the weather is nice I recommend booking your table for lunch then belting down the lauberhorn and enjoy a beer at the bottom.
Great little mountain restaurant, can be walked to from Wengen or by ski, friendly service and great food,
We have a chalet in Wengen and have enjoyed Mary's Cafe over many years. However until last Saturday we had elected not to give them our custom - probably for the last 4 years - following a very unfortunate episode where, as part of a large group, our pre-ordered quails (Sunday speciality) were given to other guests and we were left waiting without explanation for well over an hour. Regrettably instead of explaining the situation; there are many other perfectly acceptable menu options to select from, the owner chose to be aggressive and rude. Anyhow, my wife and I decided to give the restaurant another go on Saturday at the end of a ski week. The restaurant is well situated on the ski slope where the Lauberhorn race ends but it is also a pleasant walk from Wengen for non skiers. We were seated at one of the outside tables; the seats are covered in animal hides and sheepskin - in the warm sunshine. A new addition was the playing of a traditional music 'squeezebox' by an accordionist. There were plenty of waiters and waitresses on hand and the service was excellent, very friendly and attentive. I had the potato soup and local sausage which was tasty and filling. My wife chose a family favourite at Mary's Cafe, the tried and tested alpen macaronni served with apple sauce.
