The food was varied and del... read more Unfortunately, we were very disappointed this time. We've eaten at School-Kättchen several times before, and it's always been great. The food was varied and delicious, the atmosphere was great, and they're always fully booked. After a while, we reserved a table and asked if School-Kättchen was under new management (the restaurant had been closed for a while). They told me no. Okay, so I reserved a table. To our disappointment, we found ourselves sitting completely alone in the restaurant. They gave us the menu, and none of us (there were five of us) knew what to make of it. It wasn't our usual selection of hearty dishes, but rather like hiking meals, something for in between meals. The rosé was watery and didn't taste good, but the cocktail of the day was good. Of course, we ate something, but not what we wanted, rather something to eat. The food was okay, but a classic tarte flambée was served here with tomatoes and arugula! So, we won't be making the long journey to eat tarte flambée again. This evening was a very disappointing one for us. Apart from a couple, no one was there! Why on earth? Oh, and we were surprised to discover that the school cafe is under new management. Why hadn't they told me this?

They sell vouchers here, and two weeks later the restaurant is temporarily closed (it's been closed for over four months). No one can be reached by phone either. I find this outrageous, if not even fraudulent. If this continues, I'll have to take legal action against the owner.

We were there today for... read more Normally, this restaurant was always a place for us to go for a special evening. We were happy to make the almost hour-long drive there. We were there today for my birthday. Definitely the last time. The menu was, let's say nice: manageable. Vegetables: Choice of frozen Brussels sprouts or beans. What I found most disappointing, however, was the service. It didn't convey a sense of welcome as a guest. From the wrong drink, which wasn't corrected, to the endless wait for a refill, to no chance to order coffee and dessert. We, five people, were simply ignored. What we were able to order was good. But feeling good is something else entirely. I think it's a shame that they gave off a sense of departure/upheaval. We have a relatively long commute, and it was absolutely not worth it this time. It wasn't a pleasant birthday meal.
