My brother-in-law and his wife gifted us a fruitcake and a rum cake for Christmas, and they were simply fantastic! The cakes were well-packaged and arrived on time. I highly recommend them!
In the 70s I was past her old place, enchanted by the thoughts of a mystical fruit cake from the middle of the nowhere (Cistern TX then). Finally, forty-four years later, I remember seeing them up and ordering some. I usually make the 100-year-old recipe of my family, but was too busy to do it this year. That's why I thought about it. It's not the same at all. Neither is better than the other... both are equally good in their own right. If you are used for a seasoned fruit cake, it is not. But it's not dirty either. It is very tasty and very satisfying on the palate. In fact, I LOVE IT, as much as I love my own. It seems a bit expensive, but then again, if you have ever made fruitcake, it is quite expensive to make too. I'll order it again. It was exactly what I needed a little Texas to improve my missing NC Christmas.
I just want one of them. Have a nice fruitcake, freshness and candied Pecans Huge Cookies Will come back soon!
Glady's fruitcake has impressed once again. I brought her fruitcake to a meeting, and it was completely devoured and praised by everyone. These are people who truly enjoy fruitcake, and their standard is the fruitcake from Collin St. Bakery in Corsicana. Don't get me wrong; Collin St. makes a delicious cake, but every single person at the meeting agreed that Gladys' bakery cake surpassed it. Gladys' cake is truly one-of-a-kind and exceptional.
