What anna may doesn't like about Captain Joe's Seafood, Waycross, Ga:
I've had a frustrating experience during my last three visits to this restaurant. There always seems to be an issue, whether it's the long wait for our drinks, the food arriving much later than expected, or incorrect orders. My mother had to step up and remind them to take our drink orders! When the food does arrive, it's tasty, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Overall, I'd rate the food a 3, the service a... I stopped at this restaurant on my way back from fishing, and the staff was incredibly accommodating by seating us in a closed section so we could keep an eye on the boat. That was really thoughtful of them. What truly made the experience memorable, though, was the excellent service and the wonderful food! It was really a fantastic choice for a meal. The seating was spacious and comfortable, the atmosphere was great, and the food was delicious. I could keep going on and on, but I wouldn't want to take up too much of your time!
Salad bar was nothing but old rotten fruit and vegetables. I complained and the staff replied saying, well yeah everybody doesn 't always eat that stuff so we just either end up keeping it too long or have to throw it out . The tuna salad was creamy and when I stated that someone could get sick from it she replied, well unless it just tastes sour, it shouldn 't make them sick . This waitress was not at fault here but the management absolutely has to know what 's going on.
It wasn't bad. It was a bit on the pricey side, and the fish was a little undercooked for my liking, but overall it was very good. The fried pickles were excellent. I had the stuffed option but didn't care much for the crab dish. I would definitely suggest something more flavorful. The salad was also great, although it was served quite cold—almost too cold, in fact. Overall, it was a good experience.
I’m not sure what has happened to captain Joe’s but, I had the worst experience tonight. I called in an order for 3 surf and turf meals, all 3 the same. When my daughter got home there were no fan tail shrimp like the person taking my order and I had discussed. To my surprise when I called back to find out what happened to my shrimp, it had been the manager that took my order. He told me all he heard was ribeye and if it was any consolation, he only charged me for ribeye’s. Well for 89 dollars and change for 3 meals of steak, baked potato and steamed broccoli you would think the it would have been a good meal. If not for the baked potato I would have went hungry. The steak was thin, dry and tough as it could get, the broccoli was still raw. I could never order from here again. Very disappointed, 2 stars was a stretch. I included a picture of what was supposed to be a piece of hand cut, tender and juicy ribeye.
Poor management. Went on Friday, May 6, 2022, with my family party of 14. 9 adults and 5 children. Arrived at approximately 6:45. We were seated immediately. The waitresses were working as hard as they could go and ours was so very kind. We learned later that two large parties (50+ in each) had just been seated before us. We waited. The waitress took our orders, and at about 8:45 we began to get our food one. plate. at. a. time with about 5 min intervals. There was not a clean table in the restaurant when the hostess attempted to seat a family of four. She walked this party around the restaurant before she finally realized she had to clean a table in order to seat them. The food could've been good, but we were past hungry when it finally began to be served. I felt so very sorry for the waitresses they could not keep up with the number of people they were trying to serve. Manager? Hostess? What were you thinking? Nope. Won't be back.
