Was Whirlers at Watermark a mag?
We ate here 2 nights in a row and the starters were excellent every time. On the first night my steak was a bit chewy, but well seasoned; the sirloin my husband had was perfect. The second night the belly pork was a little stringy, but the chicken was excellent. They have a lovely selection of local cheeses. The ordinary wines they have are very well chosen and varied. What mrsagf dislikes about Watermark:
We had three dinners and three breakfasts in a row as part of a tour group. The food was very good, possibly above the overall level of the hotel, but the service was abysmal--slow, inattentive, confused at times and generally uncaring. Poor attitudes among the staff. Management needs to take action on this and professionalize its wait staff. View all feedback.
After the decision to book a little late christmas away, we had little choice at events and booked a garden space in the frensham ponds hotel. I then read the reviews and asked myself what we had agreed for. at the arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and directed to our garden space, which contained itself and which was overlooked and accessible from the outside. the room was comfortable and in excellent decorative order with some beautiful hauch, a good shower in a modern shower room and a very convenient support, but not hard, bed. the main part of the hotel was again in excellent order with an Indian thema that was not exaggerated. we slept very well and the garden room was quiet and private. since this was the Christmas package, all the meals were included. holy evening was a pre ordered meal and was well presented, hot and tasty laid with a singer for entertainment. the next morning we were presented with the usual selection of continental or English breakfast. we chose the latter thing I have to say was simply the best buffet full of English I ever had. everything was hot and tasty and even though it was kept warm, was just as it was cooked to order 10/10 there were other choices of fruit and pasture as well as the usual juices, toast, tee and coffee. Danish baked varieties were provided and were also excellent. the Christmas dinner was also expected with well cooked turkey and vegetables. boxing day roasting was even better with beautiful roasts and made to house searettich sauce, which had exactly the right amount of heat. Christmas day and boxing day evening had a buffet with a selection of dressing all up to the same high standard. an excellent singer ensured the entertainment for boxing day evening. in the run of time most staff were professional, friendly and attentive, without being overlaid. the bar area was pleasant with a log fire and an atmosphere of relaxed, unobstructed comfort was everywhere. everywhere was spotlessly cleaned, colorful and in good order with different seating areas for guests. reception staff was friendly and helpful with local knowledge and suggestions to visit. Overall, I can't think of much what could be improved, apart from perhaps making the dining room a little more cozy (difficult with a multifunctional room under the circumstances) and a small plant that had become loose on the way to the garden rooms. whatever humans seem to be having a bad review, has been fully addressed by our own view.
The food is very good, and would highly recommend the Crusted Rack of Lamb Duo .. Our stay and dining experience was made extra special by the service that Rishi gave, he was extremely attentive and showed top class customer service skills. We have visited many times over the years and look forward to dining here again.
After deciding a little late to book Christmas away, we had little choice of venues and booked a garden room at Frensham Ponds Hotel. I then read the reviews and wondered just what we had let ourselves in for. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and directed to our garden room which was self contained and overlooked the lawn and accessed from outside. The room was comfortable and in excellent decorative order with some nice touches, a good shower in a modern shower room and a very comfortable supportive, but not hard, bed. The main part of the hotel was again in excellent order with an Indian theme that was not overstated. We slept very well and the garden room was quiet and private. As this was the Christmas package, all meals were included. Christmas Eve was a Pre ordered meal and was well presented, hot and tasty with a singer laid on for entertainment. The following morning we were presented with the usual choice of continental or English breakfast. We chose the latter which I have to say was easily the best buffet full English I've ever had. Everything was hot and tasty and despite being kept warm was just like it was cooked to order 10/10 There were other choices of fruit and cereal as well as the usual juices, toast, tea and coffee. Danish pastries were provided and were also excellent. Christmas lunch was as expected with well cooked Turkey and veggies. Boxing Day roast was even better with lovely roasties and home made horseradish sauce that had just the right amount of heat. Christmas Day and Boxing Day evening had a buffet with a choice of dishes all of which were up to the same high standard. An excellent singer provided the entertainment for Boxing Day evening. Throughout, the ample staff were professional, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The bar area was pleasant with a log fire and an atmosphere of relaxed un-fussed comfort was present throughout. Everywhere was immaculately cleaned, colourful and in good order with various different seating areas for guests. Reception staff were friendly and helpful with local knowledge and suggestions of places to visit. Overall I cannot think of much that could have been improved apart from perhaps making the dining room a little more cosy (difficult with a multi-function room under the circumstances) and a small patch of paving that had become loose on the way to the garden rooms. Whatever made people give a poor review seems, from our view, to have been addressed completely.
The Frensham Pond Hotel restaurant was always good but in its new format with its new menu we were really impressed and will certainly be going back.
Stayed at the Frensham Pond Hotel for the evening and enjoyed an excellent dinner in the Watermark Restaurant. Although the restaurant is connected to the hotel it does not feel like a hotel 'dining room '.The menu was interesting and the food was well presented and the quality was excellent. The staff were friendly, efficient but not overpowering. The views across the 'Great Pond ' add to the relaxing atmosphere of the restaurant.I cannot wait until our next visit.Thank you
