This charming pub offers delicious food, drinks, and a cozy atmosphere. They serve one of my favorite beers, a Porter from the Earl Soham brewery, which instantly made me happy. The service was fantastic, with friendly staff. Despite being busy, the food arrived quickly as everything is cooked to order. The dishes were hearty, tasty, and generous in portion size. This is not a fancy place where you get less for more... View all feedback.
What Geranium31 doesn't like about The Rumburgh Buck:
I randomly chose this pub for my birthday lunch and I couldn't have been happier with my choice. The food was excellent and great value, especially the bread pudding. The live folk music band was fantastic and the selection of CAMRA ales was impressive. We even bought 4 pints of Humpty Dumpty's 'Little Sharpy' to take home. The staff were extremely friendly and made the whole experience perfect. Thank you to everyone... View all feedback.
A lovely traditional pub. Booking advised if you want to eat as it is often fully booked, for good reason! Great staff and delicious food.
The Buck was a five minute walk from our holiday cottage and was recommended. it did not disappoint, a lovely old pub, dog friendly with such lovely friendly staff. Open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. We tried both on several occasions and the food was excellent, generous servings too. We highly recommend it if you are in the area.
As a group of 4, we arrived without a reservation on Saturday at around 12.30pm. When we went up to place our order at 12.40pm we were advised there was a 40 minute wait on meals. We decided (unfortunately) to order and wait. A group of 4 with a reservation, arrived at the table next to us about 15 minutes later. The hostess came to their table and took their order. Their cooked meals arrived about 20 minutes after they had ordered. Our single ham ploughmans plate and 2 jacket potatoes arrived at 1.45pm! On leaving, my curious husband enquired why the table next to us got their meals without the “40 minutes” wait and was told it was because they had pre-ordered. When hubby challenged this and advised that was not the case, he was told “they requested their meal be delivered at a set time”! Seriously. Not the way to attract or encourage walk ins. Here was I, thinking a reservation meant you got a table at a set time. At this place it means no matter what time you order, you get your meal before those who’ve arrived and ordered before you. As a side, it was the worst ploughman’s platter I’ve ever had at an English pub. After being told it would be big enough to share, “with a bowl of chips”, it was not. It was one slice of ham (very nice) 2 dry pieces of bread, 2 small pickled onions, some stale and crushed corn chips, 2 pieces of ice burg lettuce, grated carrot and 2 pieces of tomato and a soft, browning apple with a side of chutney/pickle. Definitely not worth the £12.50 we paid. If we hadn’t already waited 45 minutes, I’d have complained and sent it back. WILL NEVER GO BACK!
If yiu have never been here, you aew missing a real treat. The staff are friendly and helpful, so are the locals. everyone talks to each other. Always four real ales including a dark one and mainly local breweries. The food is good with vegan and vegetarian options, plenty of it and moderately priced. There are six rooms and good outside facilities. There is live acoustic music most days. Caters for all ages. It is 2023 Suffolk Pub of the Year. Don't pass The Buck, come in.
I visited the RUMBURGH BUCK in suffolk for sunday lunch on sunday 27 th august 2023. I chose my usual LARGE roast beef and all the trimmings, with extra potatoes and gravy, as im a big eater 21st and hungry! ! I ate it all , and really enjoyed it! Washed down with a well poured Guinness, i went home a very satisfied customer. I Would recommend the food here to anybody, i have had other meals here mid week and they were excellent ! Lovely staff too, nothing too much trouble. A hidden gem well worth finding.
