Masala Bay has received a mix of reviews, with some describing it as a disappointing experience due to unclean conditions, subpar food, and poor service. The recent change in ownership seems to have impacted the quality of the food negatively, with bland flavors and disappointing dishes. However, there are also positive reviews highlighting delicious food, particularly the shrimp dish, Aloo Gobi, and Chicken Korma. Despite some issues with slow service and high prices, loyal customers appreciate the consistently good food quality. The restaurant offers an extensive menu, warm greetings, and a lovely patio dining experience.

Was Anonym at Masala Bay a mag?
Great little family-run restaurant in Waterloo. Comfortable atmosphere and excellent service from the owner's son. Delicious Indian food, generous portions (my wife and I ordered 3 dishes plus rice and barely ate half of it - lots for lunch tomorrow!). Lots of vegetarian options. It's now our favourite Indian restaurant in Waterloo for sure. View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Masala Bay:
I am appalled by the state of this restaurant. I don't know how they are passing health inspections. The carpeting and table linens weee soiled. Our cutlery was dirty. Instead of taking dirty dishes into the kitchen they are staked outside the customer washrooms!!! Communal food bowls and serving utensils cross contaminate with every dish. Water is served luke warm from dirty pitchers. Owners are ridiculously rude. I... View all feedback.
The vegetable samosa was delicious, the mulligatawny soup had good flavor but was a bit too rich for my liking. The bhuna ghost was very rich but quite tasty. The chana masala was fantastic when eaten with the garlic naan. Both curry dishes had plenty of sauce and generous portions. One serving of rice was sufficient for two people.
I have tried out at least 10 Indian restaurants and I can confidently say that Masala Bay in KW is the absolute best. Their flavors, food descriptions on their website, and the overall quality of their dishes are unmatched. Keep up the good work and your customers will gladly pay an extra $2 per dish for what you offer. The variety of meals from different regions of India is also impressive. Masala Bay has definitely nailed it with their excellent food experience.
This restaurant serves delicious Indian comfort food. I have not tried their takeout service, so I cannot comment on some of the reviews mentioning it. However, my dining in experience was very enjoyable.
The curries are very Delicious . Beautiful ambience. But they need to work on chicken kebab , it was super chewy when it is supppsed to be tender.
