Not a bad place but technically it is a bad place considering the people that built this place were stonemasons and they have pictures in the basement of a maso... read more Not a bad place but technically it is a bad place considering the people that built this place were stonemasons and they have pictures in the basement of a mason gathering with one man facing forward against the wall while all others face each other in a long line, then again John Labatt was connected with a lot of sinister stuff back then. I get a very uneasy feeling being in this place, good service and food but….I personally would tare down the whole thing and rebuild it, historical..yes but evil stuff went down in here. It’s absolutely amazing how many people don’t even realize it and have no clue of its past.

Service was frien... read more Went for lunch at Barley Works and the weather was nice enough to sit outside. The hotel has an elevated patio with a view in Uptown Waterloo. Service was friendly and prompt. Overall, things could be a bit cleaner but it's what you get for the price and setting. Food is decent and goes well with the drinks.I recommend the Italian soda they have right now! The lavender and vanilla one was delicious and refreshing.

The food is prepared with care using fresh ingredients - for example, the coleslaw is homemade, not from a container. We tried the fish tacos, schnitzel, and local brew and highly recommend them. We used to frequent this place heavily during our university days, so it's great to see it still running so well.

The Huether Hotel has become one of my favourite places to go to in Uptown with there being so many amenities to enjoy such as pool, the cafe, jazz room, etc. H... read more The Huether Hotel has become one of my favourite places to go to in Uptown with there being so many amenities to enjoy such as pool, the cafe, jazz room, etc. However, I was really disappointed to see that I was not able to have a meal there as there is no vegan menu, let alone any vegan options on their current menu. This is very bothersome for me as I would like to enjoy ALL of the facilities they have to offer, especially something like dining. All they suggested was to remove the cheese or other dairy products, but this takes so much away from the meal itself. I would highly encourage the Huether to add vegan options to their menu making it a place for everyone to enjoy. I know many vegans who would support the business if having these options. I hope the owner would consider this request as it is important to me as someone who would like to continue going.

The food is fantastic, especially the pork tacos - kudos to the chefs! This is also one of the few places in the area with a pool hall. Don't miss out on visiting the patio!
