Description

Ris has received mixed reviews in recent months, with some diners feeling that the restaurant has not lived up to its former standards. Poor service and disappointing food have left many customers feeling let down. However, there are still some shining moments at Ris, such as the excellent lunch options during DC Restaurant Week and the exceptional service from friendly staff members like Sam. The menu offers a variety of choices, with standouts like the crown of cauliflower and the fresh, beautifully presented brunch options. While Ris may not be a top choice for regular dining in DC, it is worth considering for special occasions or during events like Restaurant Week. The establishment's laid-back, high-quality approach to food may be just what some diners are looking for.

I have visited this restaurant several times before, but when a group came to town and stayed at a nearby hotel, I decided to take them to RIS for dinner. Despite the array of excellent dining options in DC, I cannot suggest RIS as a go-to choice. The service was decent, the atmosphere was average, however, the food left much to be desired.

We chose to celebrate our birthdays at Ris because we were looking for a restaurant where we could enjoy a delicious meal and have a memorable experience. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to find a Happy Birthday! banner on our menus – a thoughtful gesture. We started our meal with the kale and Brussels sprouts salad and roasted spaghetti squash as appetizers, followed by trout and crown of cauliflower as our main courses. For dessert, we indulged in butterscotch pudding and tiramisu. Each dish was not only tasty, but also beautifully presented. Ris has a unique way of combining flavors that we found impressive. What makes Ris stand out is their variety of vegetarian options, which was perfect for me. The service was friendly and flawless, and the atmosphere was charming. I highly recommend Ris for a cozy and delicious dining experience where you will be treated like royalty. Even though it may not be located in a bustling area, the trip to Ris is definitely worthwhile.
