I really enjoyed this place! The Garden area is super cute and cozy. The food was so good and the owner personally went out of his way to make it a special brunch for my friend who's birthday we were celebrating. I read several reviews that hinted at the small portion sizes but they were just right to me. I'll definitely be going back.
Only one (great) server for the whole place. Food was good, but super slow to come out. Drinks were free for waiting more than an hour for entrees.
What a joy. The pisco sour was probably the second best I 've ever had (and the best was in Cusco, Peru). The ceviche was fresh and the traditional version was topped with a really unique sweet potato that had cloves in it. For a main course my duck pato was tasty and just right ... We 'd never been before. We are already planning to go back. Say hi to Jahlex, the manager and ask him where his name came from ...
Sadly, we found our experience at Ocopa lacking. The decor was trendy, perhaps too much so stools are simply not acceptable for a dining room. When paying more than $20 for an entree, I like to be able to lean back occasionally. The roll up windows were open, and the hot still air of the summer evening was not pleasant. My drink did not arrive until we were finished with our appetizers, I was assured it was on the house but at the end of the meal, there it was on the bill. The Nikkei style ceviche was excellent. The titular Ocopa appetizer was lacking in punch and the fingerling potatoes were a poor choice the traditional potatoes would have worked better. The duck fried rice was overly sweet, with a mushy consistency, though the duck itself was well prepared. My partner 's Aji de Gallina was better, though not exceptional. Overall, a disappointing experience.
