Maketto - Washington, D.C.
Maketto
Description
Maketto offers a hip atmosphere with a lot to offer in terms of clothing, food, bar, outdoor, and upstairs seating options. While there are limited vegan options, the food overall received positive reviews. The decor and ambiance were enjoyed by many, despite some minor issues with service. The unique fusion twist on Taiwanese and Cambodian food was a highlight for many, with standouts including the fried chicken, pork lo mein, and fried gruyere. Overall, Maketto provides impressive, unique, and delicious food with great service in a stylish setting that evokes a nostalgic 1990s vibe.

Very nice restaurant and location. Three stars removed for automatically included gratuity. We got the pork bao, Gruyère dumplings, and fried dough, all of which were very good. The shrimp dumplings were pretty good, but a little too doughy. TheBone Marrow entree sounds great, but we had to send it back and take it off the bill, which I’ve never done before. It was away too salty, kind of sour mess. They were great about it, took it right off, and the manager even came over to explain thatthe white rice is intended to absorb the saltiness (though you’d need a pickup truck’s worth of rice to do the job). Overalla very good stop, with the exception of the included tip.
Unique fusion twist on Taiwanese and Cambodian food. The wings were pretty good, the shrimp wontons were pretty standard but with some fried onion and unique sauce on them instead of just standard soy sauce. Good but nothing amazing. Bao buns were good.Chicken wings were good. Spicy beef bowl was okay, I personally wouldn’t order it again. Five spice latte was veryinteresting, and surprisingly tasted good. Egg tarts were delicious.
Impressive, unique, and amazingly tasty food with great service in a nostalgic, 1990s vibe setting. Our group ordered 7 or 8 dishes, I would get all of them again. But if I had to recommend a top 3, I would go with the fried chicken, pork lo mein, andfried gruyere. I highly recommend Maketto and will definitely be going back many times to try everything on the menu.
Modern, stylish interior and a beautiful back patio (highly recommend sitting outside). The coffee is very good. All the dishes are styled beautifully, but some taste better than others. The scallion pancakes are some of the best I've ever tried thesourdough levels them up. Didn't enjoy the leek steam buns as much. Very affordable prices.
Delicious! It is a bit further away from the central businesses, but we are so glad to have tried it. Very unique flavors and a very novel fusion of Asian foods. They also make good chai tea! I had my doubts when trying businesses that offer a wide varietyof food and drinks that are often specialized, but they are very good.
