Description

The restaurant offers good Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine, though it may not be in the top 3 in D.C. The compact space could use an update, though the location between Dupont and Adams Morgan is ideal. The food is filling, with friendly staff helping diners navigate the menu. The veggie combo is a standout, offering generous portions with less greasiness than other Ethiopian restaurants. The menu is spicy, so be prepared, and the breakfast fava bean stew is a must-try. The authenticity and flavorful dishes make this restaurant a great choice for those looking for Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine in D.C. It may get busy, so plan your visit accordingly. Despite the dated decor, the food quality and affordability make this restaurant highly recommended.

A cute family style Eritrean restaurant near Dupont Circle in Washington DC. Friendly staff and tasty dishes! The dishes and stews were flavorful and fresh. They also offer American style breakfast, but I encourage you to get out of your comfort zoneand try a new dish here. Vegetarian friendly. If it’s your first time trying Eritrean cuisine, don’t hesitate to ask thestaff for recommendations. Plenty of options for meat lovers, vegetarians, and vegans alike.

If you enjoy spicy, this is the place for you. Easily every item on the menu is spicy. Bad thing is, there is no warning towards how spicy their food is. Even worse, most of the menu is pictureless and in a language you most probably do not understand, andthe waiter is anything but helpful to describe what is it that will give you that massive heartburn in about an hour. Rating ittwo stars because almost before giving uo on my meal someone came over to check on my table and, after hearing my struggle withthe spice, offered me a cup of yogurt to ease the burn.

This is my second time eating Ethiopian food and it was a true delight. I was feeling under the weather and needed a wholesome nutritious meal and decided to get their Special Shiro. It was creamy, flavorful, scrumptious. I was also pleasantly surprisedwhen I found out my order came with an extra of Enjera bread filled with their lentil sauce and spinach. Thank you for awonderful culinary experience!

This is my 1st time having Eritrean food and it’s really worth the hype… It's delicious! The food is not something I would crave often but I'm happy that I tried it. I found it flavorful and very filling. The injera is addicting and the lentils weremy favorite. The food is affordable with generous portions. The restaurant is small with limited seating and busy. I woulddefinitely return to try more menu options. I heard their breakfasts are amazing.

I love this place- definitely my go-to when I want Ethiopean or Eritrean food. Great veggie platter. Also get the ful, which is a fava bean dip that you 'll find on the breakfast menu, and ask them to hold the yogurt. Staff in my experience is helpful and can help with veganizing and identifying what 's vegan. It 's quite popular, so if you 're going on a weekend evening or some other popular time, you will likely have a wait. I try to go during weekend post-lunch, pre-dinner hours. Or I 'll go right after work before the dinner rush really starts. And it 's not a big space- there 's really no where to stand/sit and wait inside. So if there 's bad weather keep in mind that you might be waiting outside or alternatively you 'll be waiting right on top of somebody eating their food. And umm, yeah, as someone said, the space looks old, i.e. dated. If you need current interior design in order to properly enjoy your food, 1) that 's weird and 2) this may not be the place for you, which is good because more room for me!
