The restaurant offers good Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine, though it may not be in the top 3 in D.C. The compact space could use an update, though the location between Dupont and Adams Morgan is ideal. The food is filling, with friendly staff helping diners navigate the menu. The veggie combo is a standout, offering generous portions with less greasiness than other Ethiopian restaurants. The menu is spicy, so be prepared, and the breakfast fava bean stew is a must-try. The authenticity and flavorful dishes make this restaurant a great choice for those looking for Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine in D.C. It may get busy, so plan your visit accordingly. Despite the dated decor, the food quality and affordability make this restaurant highly recommended.

I had not had Ethiopian food before. The food service were both amazing!

I love this place- definitely my go-to when I want Ethiopean or Eritrean food. Great veggie platter. Also get the ful, which is a fava bean dip that you 'll find on the breakfast menu, and ask them to hold the yogurt. Staff in my experience is helpful and can help with veganizing and identifying what 's vegan. It 's quite popular, so if you 're going on a weekend evening or some other popular time, you will likely have a wait. I try to go during weekend post-lunch, pre-dinner hours. Or I 'll go right after work before the dinner rush really starts. And it 's not a big space- there 's really no where to stand/sit and wait inside. So if there 's bad weather keep in mind that you might be waiting outside or alternatively you 'll be waiting right on top of somebody eating their food. And umm, yeah, as someone said, the space looks old, i.e. dated. If you need current interior design in order to properly enjoy your food, 1) that 's weird and 2) this may not be the place for you, which is good because more room for me!

I enjoy Keren, not in my top 3 Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurants in D.C., but it's a very competitive scene. I agree with another commenter that the space is too tiny, a bit awkward, and in need of updating at the very least. Cool location between DuPont and Adams Morgan.

Some of the best Eritrean/Ethiopian food I’ve ever had. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The veggie platter is so filling and completely delicious. I would highly recommend a visit if you’re in DC!

This is one of my favorite places when it comes to perfect breakfast places, the food was so fresh and tasty, service was on point, the only thing was, the parking is a pain. I highly recommend this place.
