Description

Chef Mike Isabella opened Kapnos along the Fourteenth Street Corridor in July 2013. Inspired by Northern Greece, the menu at Kapnos features a variety of spreads, breads, vegetables, and small plates, including the renowned wood-grilled octopus. The restaurant boasts two wood-fire grills with rotating spits, as well as a large oven for stone-baked flatbreads. Guests can savor carvings from whole animals spit-roasted all day, with options like lamb, goat, duck, chicken, and suckling pig. Kapnos is open for dinner seven nights a week.

We celebrated a birthday and have so a bit patterned out of each section. high points were the different spreads, saganaki, broccoli with smoked aubergine (one must imo), and oktopus. Zucchini-Fritter were delicious and good-done, but I would probably get something else from the veggies instead of personally. the lamb was good, but a little underwhelming compared to the others. had they been getting? our waitress (maria) was fantastic and so helpful.

The physical arrangement was such that the very noisy bar was isolated from our table, and we could enjoy great conversation. The food was creative and collaborative. We ordered the lamb-shoulder for the table, which was delicious and fun to share. Mezze were also delicious, and the greek wine recommended by the waiter was outstanding. Very enjoyable overall.

We had a wonderful experience at Kapnos. We had the unlimited brunch and everything we had was excellent. Our server David was extremely helpful, managed some strict dietary restrictions, and was sure to keep the food arriving at our table without us even asking. Highly recommend this restaurant for brunch!
