Iron Gate, located near Dupont Circle, is one of the district's oldest continuously operating restaurants. It offers a sumptuous dining room, a wisteria-covered patio, and a beautifully enclosed carriageway that houses the bar. Chef Anthony Chittum, a native of Maryland's Eastern Shore, and his team have revitalized the space with a menu that draws inspiration from the cuisines of Greece, Sicily, Sardinia, and Southern Italy. They reinterpret these traditions and techniques using the finest Mid-Atlantic products and seasonal ingredients. Iron Gate also serves as a serene oasis for private events, both large and small. Fabulous food and service! All very fresh and creative. A real treat.
Asked for a quiet table and they sat us in the noisiest place we’ve been to in a while. Food was mediocre. Service was just OK, granted they were busy.
The food was amazing, as always. The new cheesecake dessert left me speechless with how delicious it is. Griffin is the most delightful and wonderful server. I absolutely love having him. And Chef James R. is so attentive and cares so much about the food at Iron Gate. This is the third set of family I’ve brought here, and all of them leave so happy and so full and all have said it’s the best meal they’ve ever eaten, which is a big statement for anybody in my very large family. Iron Gate is by far the best dining experience I’ve ever had.
Beautiful Ambience! Iron Gate is so huge with beautiful ambience. Covered with so many plants at the entrance and inside as well. We had limited course at the brunch, we will explore the place again to try other stuff. The staff was so amiable andwelcoming. We had wine and coffee, everything tasted so good.
Overall great experience! Went with the chefs tasting menu, 4 stars because the starters were really the star of the show. I felt very underwhelmed by the main course (we got the lamb). Shoutout to the somm, he brought us a beautiful bottle of Greekwine in our requested price range. Will be visiting again!
