3.5 stars. The first couple of years when Hazel opened, I was a regular. So regular that the chef, manager, and staff knew who I was. The food was unique, intelligently concocted, and quite delicious. Their wine list was also outstanding! They had suchunique offerings from Macedonia, Bulgaria, Austria, and other unusual but fascinating reds and rosés. Then I took a longbreak. I recently returned and was pleased to know the food was just as amazing as I remember. The only thing lacking is thevibe. Hazel seems to have lost its charm. I was surprised to see they were not at all busy on prime dinner time-slot, on aThursday. And the bar area was empty. There was a time when it was difficult to get a rezzie and the bar was packed; nowadaysyou can simply walk-in. My friend and I enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. With the exception of the crudo, which didn’t taste asfresh to me, the rest of our meal was delicious. I hope the evening we went was an anomaly. I really want to love this placeagain.
I really enjoyed hazel and I plan to go back again for sure. I went for brunch and it was great. The outdoor patio with the turf grass was pretty cool, very unique. They have couches you can be seated at outdoors as well. The food here was good, the menuhas a decent selection. The service here was outstanding from the waiter being very attentive to the general manager coming tocheck on us and see how we were enjoying our time.
Hazel was amazing! We attended for brunch and the food was incredible and very reasonably priced and filling. The smashed cucumber was incredible, as were the chicken wings. The monkey bread was a little dry, so I would suggest another pastry to tryfor the future. The restaurant manager is also very friendly and accommodating and offered to help my boyfriend arrange a partyfor his friends Birthday one week in advance. He and his friends visited this past weekend and loved the service they receivedand the lovely outdoor space and accomodations. I would highly recommend this spot for brunch or dinner.
Overall the food was really good and the service was great as well. Our favorite dip was the carrot haydari. Also really enjoyed the lamb sausage, the pork tacos, and the short rib. The asparagus salad was a little too lemony for us but still reallyinteresting to try. Everything was also beautifully presented.
