Consistently good. I miss the pre covid days when they served food cafeteria style at the GA ave location bc it was hot and on demand..and the naan was included...def better for a college student budget as you got more for your . But the food isconsistently good at both the HU and the 14th street locations. View all feedback.
What M Mamun Rahman doesn't like about Salt And Pepper Grill:
If you are looking for halal deshi food in Washington DC area, it?s ok to try their food but not what I was expected. We ordered Chicken Biryani, Butter chicken, chicken Tikka Masala and Naan. Biryani was okay but other two chicken items test like similar.I don?t think they know how to cook butter chicken chicken Tikka Masala. Food portions are not great either. There are otherhalal places in DC area better than them... View all feedback.
The food is consistently good. I do miss the pre-COVID days when they served food cafeteria-style at the GA Avenue location because it was hot and made to order, plus the naan was included. That option was definitely better for a college student budget since you got more for your money. However, the food remains consistently great at both the HU and 14th Street locations.
What can I say about Salt and Pepper Grill? Amazing food, wonderful, warm, gentle, inviting and kind customer service! The atmosphere inside is very homely, modest and humble! The large windows outlooking the busy streets add to the atmosphere! Nowlet 's get down to the nitty, gritty ; the food! Me and my wife have been to Salt and Pepper twice now and the first time Iordered the Goat Biryani and the portions for the price were unbelievable or better yet unbeatable! This second time around, meand my wife ended up ordering the Butter Chicken each and let me tell you, the Butter Chicken was the perfect consistency ofrichness, and thickness! We also ordered each one extra Naan to dip in the Butter Chicken and it was the perfect floury cherryon top! The oil was still dripping off of the Flour Nann, it was warm and crispy! We will be back! This will be a staple placefor me and my wife as we are lovers of Indian Cuisine.
If you're in the Washington DC area and seeking halal deshi food, you might want to give this restaurant a try, but it didn't quite meet my expectations. We ordered Chicken Biryani, Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Naan. The Biryani was decent, but the other two chicken dishes tasted quite similar. It seems they might not have a good handle on making Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala. Additionally, the portion sizes weren't impressive. There are definitely better halal options in the DC area.
The online ordering process is a bit confusing, as they only offer pickup at the 14th St NW location and not at Georgia Ave. Update: After I shared my feedback, the restaurant issued me a refund but still prepared my food at the other location. I have to give them an A+ for customer service!
My go to take out spot in DC. Prices range a little higher but nothing unreasonable. Food is always fresh and feels homey and authentic.
