I was recently in the city for work and wanted to shake everything for my daily breakfast routine and was able to find paul directly around the corner from where I stayed. I came in and could her roast egg breakfast with a side salad, a side of speck and an americano for a decent price. overall the fried eggs were somewhat over boiled, the charalate was fresh, and the speck was solid, so no big complaining. I did not... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Paul:
Poor food quality. Croissants were flat and stable. Mozzarella panini is tasteless and not worth the price. The ladies work friendly and friendly. Not her fault is eating bad. View all feedback.
If you're looking for an authentic French cafe you've come to the the right place!! Best coffee and delicious baked goods that are made fresh everyday!!
I was excited to see Paul expand to the DC area, as we had an incredible experience at one of the London locations a few years ago. Verdict – it was good. Certainly not as great as the London location, but good nonetheless. The croissant was good (although the one in London was delectable; I don’t think it was the same at the DC location). During lunch, the sandwiches were stored in the counter case and then warmed up. Overall, the sandwich tasted fine, and the coffee good.
I tried several Paul locations in Europe and North Africa, they are usually pretty good. I don't know why when they open in the US they feel like they have to dilute their coffee, like we can't handle good coffee here! The latte was not good, the raspberry macaroon on the other hand was good, although at $8 the piece it was way overpriced. No paper towel in the restrooms.
I had totally forgotten until last night, just as I was going to sleep, that Paul had branches in DC. Having visited the Paris and London branches over many years we scooted over here for a snack in between museums. We ordered a slice of the almond apple cake and mille feuille. The former was kinda meh for the price, liked the mille feuille though again it was a little expensive for what it was.But what we really came for was the hot chocolate, which was as divine as I remembered it. It was perfect for a rainy and cool day. Will have to go again before we leave.I'll have to try some of their other pastries. Always like the tarte au citron. If you need a hot chocolate or pastries, come here!
