I ordered the vegan bowl with avocado and plantain, and it was absolutely delicious! The staff was very friendly and the prices were reasonable for Washington DC. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about La Casita Pupuseria:
The food at this restaurant didn't taste very healthy, but sometimes that's exactly what you crave. I tried the crispy and delicious enchiladas and the sweet, sugary empanadas. The portion sizes were a bit small for the price, but that's typical for restaurants in DC. View all feedback.
While the pupusas weren't the best I've had, the overall experience at this restaurant was enjoyable thanks to the great service and charming atmosphere.
The enchiladas I ordered were drenched in oil. It was really gross!
The Carne Asada Callejera (Grilled Steak) cost $15.95 and came neatly packed in a compartmental takeout container. It consisted of thin slices of grilled steak served on a bed of seasoned white rice. For sides, I chose frijoles refritos (refried beans) and Casita salad (lettuce, tomatoes, and carrots). The grilled steak was flavorful and well-seasoned, although slightly tough and chewy. It paired nicely with the seasoned rice, which was delicious on its own. I particularly enjoyed the frijoles refritos, which were my favorite part of the meal. The Casita salad was nothing extraordinary, but it provided a refreshing contrast to the steak, rice, and beans. Overall, it was a great choice and quite filling. I would recommend trying it. Next time, I'll make sure to finally try the pupusas... haha.
