Great bar/club (depending on the room you decide to entertain yourself in) and in a prime spot located in DuPont. There are maybe over ten rooms with each of them having a distinct style it goes from cool living room, to outside, to lounge to a club. Gotta check it out. View all feedback.
What Kendall C doesn't like about International Lounge:
I went to Eighteenth Street Lounge this past weekend with a few girlfriends, and was really looking forward to it after hearing claims of how great of a spot it was. Which technically, the venue and music was fantastic! My issue lies with the bouncer/security who blatantly started inappropriately groping me in the crowd, and abused his power by physically and verbally forcing me apart from my friends when I stood up... ESL is one of those go to staple institutions in DC. Since I became of age and started dabbling in DC night life, ESL has always been a good ol ' reliable destination for a good time among me and my friends. What I love most about ESL is what I first loved about it upon my first visit about a decade ago. It was the first, semi hidden, not visibly large but surprisingly spacious venue, with lots of different rooms, and vibes. With the sprawl, I 've always loved how they 've managed to still make the space feel cozy, sexy and intimate with lots of dark corners for additional privacy and space. The music is always on point as well (duh Thievery) and caters to such a range whether it 's live reggae, house, old school hip hop. The only time I typically avoid ESL is on the weekends, only because the crowd flow naturally swells in Dupont on the then and the patrons are typically a little more rowdy and the space, a little more packed. Otherwise, good vibes always.
I came here on a Saturday night after grabbing dinner next door at Shake Shack. I was impressed with how spacious this place is, despite the small entrance. The lounge has multiple floors with a different vibe to each floor... from the decor to the music.... it really changes with which floor you are on. I went to the top floor to check out the jazz music, they have live bands playing here from time to time. It was about 9pm so the place wasn't super packed yet and the music wasn't too loud where you can't carry a conversation without screaming. Our bartender was Sadira, loveeeee her! I told her I wanted something sweet that would mask the taste of alcohol, my drink tasted like lychee and lemonade.... it was amazingggg! She did not skimp on the alcohol, because I started feeling the alcohol hit me after a few sips :P I will definitely be back here, bartenders were great, drinks came out delicious and quick! I came around 9pm so I was not charged a cover fee :
What a dope spot! We came on A Sunday during Presidents' Day weekend around 9p after dinner and it was long before the place started filling up. Coming from Miami, we don't see a place like this everyday. You walk up stairs to the first of several rooms with a bar, red walls, dim lights and a space filled with vintage sofas. Full bar and a list of about 10 or so cocktails I had the Ameri(something) I forget the name. Not bad, made with Makers. Id probably stick to wine next time but I was trying to hang with my whisky drinkers Pretty cool variety of music in the main room. Not stuff you'll want to get up and dance to but great chill vibe. Head outside if you want to bust a move or into the House Music area that opens at 11p. There's one more room that's super low key and feels like you've found a top secret Speakeasy. Located in what seems to be a pretty popular neighborhood so I definitely recommend making dinner reservations near by and heading to 18th st Lounge after for a full night!
This place was really laid back and cool. It's great for a date night. Our waiter, I didn't get to catch her name was very attentive. This bar is great but It doesn't have hookah and the live band was getting I. The way of the DJ music. Other than that, if I need somewhere to chill downtown, this may be the place
