Bombay Street Food - Washington

The first restaurant we visited in DC was very eager to dine at. The waiter did not greet us and instead stood next to us waiting for our order. After we received the samosas (which were tasty aside from my issue with hospitality), we discovered a live, crawling beetle in the food, particularly in the sauce. We promptly cancelled our order and were disgusted. I am giving it two stars only because the samosas were good, but I would not recommend this place.

I ordered the tandoori wings, which were slightly spicy, flavorful, and juicy. My friend and I both enjoyed the wings. However, the tandoori salmon was too sharp and dry for my liking. While I understand that tandoori dishes can be on the drier side, the salmon had a tough exterior due to its dryness, making it difficult to eat.

The food at this restaurant is delicious. The plain and garlic naan, as well as the goat and lamb dishes, are delicate and flavorful. The dhal is also very tasty. The prices are reasonable. We had dinner for two and tried a bit of everything. I will definitely come back. The only complaint is that it could be a bit cleaner. The pictures on the wall are dusty.

The servers and service in general was absolutely amazing, and the food was top-notch too! I’m from India and I always miss home (not just the food but the people too) and everyone here made me feel so at home! Will definitely be back! Also the music was amazing early 2000s vibes.
