This was a disappointing trip to not your average joes. First the server was fantastic. But the food not so much. Both my son and I got the mustard crusted chicken. The chicken while crunchy had so much oil on it it was hard to taste anything else. Green beans were great. It's the mash potatoes that confused me. I thought they tasted weird. I actually thought they tasted like apple sauce. My son then Said to me “the... View all feedback.
I was recently in the Warwick area and bookended my time there with meals at Not your Average Joe's. Aptly named, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting. The staff were great on both visits. They could answer questions, had tried many of the GF items and were patient when I kept asking if they were for sure that it was GF because it looked so much like regular food. Dietary restrictions: NYAJ's has a decent gluten free menu that includes an appetizer and dessert, along with salads, sandwiches, and dinners. Their GF bread is onion bread and they serve two small rolls of it in place of the bread they provide at every table (there is a fee for the swap but it's not too bad and just the opportunity to eat with others instead of watching them eat is not available everywhere). These rolls are served with a dip, which is oil based and filled with what tasted like garlic, Parmesan cheese, and crushed red pepper. I had the mustard crusted chicken BLT and it came on the same onion roll, but at a normal bun size. The sandwich was a great pairing of classic tastes mixed with boldness of flavor. I loved it. Gluten free doesn't have to be bland and they proved that here. I stayed the course with the mustard crusted chicken at the end of my trip but had it as a dinner instead of the sandwich. It came with two breasts and it was delicious! I do prefer the flavors of the BLT but that doesn't diminish the quality and experience of the dinner. It's impossible to go wrong!
Has gone downhill. Food is overpriced and doesn't taste good.
N.Y.A.J. has been a favorite for my wife and I for more than a decade. I don't think we have ever had a bad experience.
The portion size of the $25 salad was so small, I left the restaurant hungry. We used to frequent NYAJ's and decided to try it again after a long break. We won't be going back anytime soon. Our server was very friendly and started off strong; however, after our meals were served, he didn't return to check in with us. We were seated outside so other servers weren't available to ask for assistance.
The food wasn't as tasty has it has been in the past. The gluten free menu was a ripped piece of paper. In fact all 4 of our group received ripped pieces of paper. The table also sloped downwards.
