Combination Creole Gumbo was great. Better than any restaurant gumbo I had while living in New Orleans 2021-22. It was ok initially but I added the included flavor packets and fixed it right up.The people and service were very nice. I didn't rate atmosphere since it's just pick up and delivery.Wheelchair accessibility: It's flat. If you use a chair, you should have no problems. You don't even need to leave your vehic... What Brent J doesn't like about Chef Borel's Kitchen:
I gave this restaurant two tries, the first time I ordered the Étouffée and the greens. The greens were done well, nothing special, but good nonetheless. The Étouffée on the other hand was inedible. Pasty is the best descriptor, tasted like a bowl of pasty refried beans, no seasoning, and honestly a bit fishy smelling. I tried again, getting the popular jambalaya. And sadly I was greeted with the same unseasoned mush... View all feedback.
Had an amazing experience today with Ms. Teresa and her awesome team! More importantly their delicious creations! Takes me right back down to the bayou, had phenomenal crawfish etouffee and cornbread. Best I've Had in Indiana, and gives everybody in the south a run for their money! Can't wait to be back!!
I don 't see the professionalism in taking my review as such a complaint as if I didn 't give your establishment 4 stars or have anything good to say. I am sharing my experience as a customer, good and not so good to my liking, so comparing me to your other customers as if I haven 't been a customer sounds as if you want me to think like them. I don 't mind ordering food online even though it can be a hassle for me personally at times. I also reviewed the menu to check for what was in certain foods and had to call you to ask because I didn 't find anything stating what was in the dirty rice specifically. Food itself is expensive right now, in my opinion (it 's a google review). Ither people not complaining about the prices doesn 't mean others may not feel the same, but I didn 't ask you to change them or say I wouldn 't pay it. I mean come on now. If you feel like I jabbed at your ego or tried to be negative I did not. You commented literally on everything I said except the positive feedback I gave. I could take your comments as an insult- of course I 'm aware of what type of establishment it is, but I see you didn 't comprehend what I was saying, so I don 't need to. I 'll keep my review posted along with the smiley face I ended with. The food is good, but expensive! $60 for 2 dinners and one extra side, no drinks. It is definitely worth it if you want great food, but you cant experience dining for the cost either. I can 't eat dirty rice or any sea foods because I restrict myself from eating certain animal parts like chicken gizzard... I wish the menu would clarify these things because I wouldnt have ordered certain things. Ordering online only is kind of a hassle when the menu doesn 't detail all specifics. I would be able to order more often if the hours were extended! Come on Chef, I need some good food after 2:00 pm! I can 't work after eating like that, I need this food available when it 's time to sit down!
I 've passed Chef Borels Kitchen so many times and finally stopped in after seeing the large Ox Tails sign out front. You have to order on line, which is easy to do just go up to the window and the pleasant lady inside will give you a paper ad that includes a QR code. Alternatively, you can go to their online site and place the order. So, back to the Ox Tails....I was surprised by the price close to $25, and with tax and an added service fee, it ended up close to $30, but I went ahead and ordered the special lunch consisting of ox tails, greens, beans rice, potato salad and a cornbread muffin. The meal was brought to my car (no seating there). Everything tasted spot on, though I added (and was happy I did) Louisiana Hot Sauce rather than use the red pepper blend they tossed in the package. The oxtails were tender (though some had more fat than meat) but the meal included a good amount of chopped oxtail meat too. The sauce was perfect not over seasoned and obviously made with care. I 'm not a big potato salad fan, but it was delicious too. The quantity was more than I could eat in one sitting and will be great for leftovers and another meal. I don 't know that all their meals are of similar quantity, likely not. I look forward to trying their gumbo and their fried catfish soon. Bottom line is that Chef Borels is first class and, for me, the best Cajun/Creole in Indianapolis.
Yes Chef Borel food was so so wonderful. I love the way she interact with the customers when she brings your food to the car. She has a great personality and the food is great I believe everyone should go and support her, especially as a black owed company.
