The meal we had was outstanding, starting with a complimentary wild mushroom and truffle soup from the chef, followed by a delicious Cajun pan-fried dish, and ending with the most exquisite ice cream I've ever tasted (I highly recommend the purple and toffee flavors!). We will definitely be back soon! View all feedback.
A warm welcome and a cold beer after a long journey. this hotel/pub is a fantastic place to stay, we were only to stop for 1 night, but we will definitely come back. we loved eating drink and beautiful dogs friendly staff. we also admired their eco-friendly ethos and look forward to a dark sky experience in their observatory.
We've just returned from a 2 night stay and already I cant wait to return. As some of the other reviews state, the staff are extremely welcoming ans nothing is too much trouble. We had the 8 course tasting menu on our first evening and it was out of this world! Amazing tastes and flavours all cooked to perfection. Whilst I have to admit I was a bit dubvious about some of the courses (as I dont particularly like some foods) but I tried them all and finished every course (bar one due to an allergy) and they were delicious. So please dont be put off by any of the coursed because you dont like something. We were in a double room which was immaculate and a good size. There's tea, coffee etc in the rooms along with fresh fruit and biscuits. Shower was great and I loved the shower gel that was provided to us in the room too. Breakfast was brillliant and the black pudding even better! ...I could go on and on about how lovely it was....but we shall be back as we want to return to the observatory during one of the winter months so we'll no doubt take advantage and book into the hotel again. Would highly reccommend!
Lovely food, great staff who can't do enough for you, a Lovely place to stay.
After being turned away by the black bull around the corner we came across this restaurant. We were welcomed straight in (even though there was 8 of us). The service was impeccable. I decided to have a starter which was rabbit liver. It was out of this world. Absolutely fantastic. We then all had the carvery. The meat was cooked to perfection and the veg was delicious. Next up were the desserts. Two of us had chocolate brownies and two of us had sticky toffee pudding. The sticky toffee pudding was amazing. Only issue was it could have been bigger. I would 100 percent recommend this restaurant to anyone who is visiting Wark
Just returned from a lovely 3 nights break. Great location, lovely food (particularly the 8 course tasting menu), helpful staff and everything well presented. Having the Observatory adds an enjoyable new dimension and we really enjoyed looking for shooting stars. Highly recommend.
