The old-fashioned charm remains with freight trains passing by, making for some great photo opportunities. The cafe is delightful, possibly run by a Dutch owner based on the beautiful pancakes on the menu. We had lunch outside and enjoyed the great views. If we had sat inside the cafe, we would have been in a charming old house with many different rooms to choose from.

This place has a fantastic landscape with beautiful gardens and an interesting history as a former important railway station. Nowadays, mostly coal trains pass by on their way to the Brisbane Harbour terminal. During our visit, we even got the bonus of seeing one of these trains. The food was good, the staff was okay, and the location was excellent.

Mothers’ day....ok, so we expected they’d be busy but we’re bemused to be told ‘no orders with... read more I never like being negative like this but there’s always a first. Mothers’ day....ok, so we expected they’d be busy but we’re bemused to be told ‘no orders without a booking as we’re full’ when there were fifteen empty tables at just after 11 am....We offered to eat quickly, only wanted quick, simple food and eventually talked them into giving us a takeaway order (which we sat on a bench and ate, enviously looking at the empty tables) -note there were no signs advising of any of my this. The food was fine in the end of the coffee good but the frustration of repeating my order several times to the disinterested human at the counter- and then correcting her error prior to paying. Oh....and the stomache- turning moment when she handed over our drinks after wiping her dripping nose with the back of her hand was so lovely.....
