Many patrons praise the welcoming service and charming decor, complemented by a lovely outdoor beer garden. While the experience seems to vary, with some diners enjoying standout dishes like traditional Sunday roasts and Ploughman’s boards, others have expressed disappointment over inconsistencies in food quality, particularly with reheated meals lacking in flavor. Despite these fluctuations, the inviting environment and helpful staff ensure that it remains a beloved local spot for drinks and gatherings, appealing to both regulars and newcomers alike.
This place is so hit and miss what a shame, because Sunday lunch / dinner was historically always very good, well cooked, well presented and especially very tasty. Although, in the last time (during ride london cycling) the food was very disappointing after only visited for a week in the evening, the whole food was far below what is usually sent out of the kitchen. Apparently the chef had his day off this evening.
Really nice pub in putney, on the hills from the high road. feels like a local pub, but the service and atmosphere are always friendly. large beer garden from the back for the warmer months and cozy, characterful interiors for the cooler months.

Was in Putney over Xmas and stopped by for Sunday lunch. Cosy pub but below average food; over cooked and dry, it seemed to us that the food had been cooked a lot earlier on in the day and had been reheated for us when we ordered. They appear to have traded freshly made food for being able roll it out when needed, rather than going for both. Go there for a cosy heathside drinks spot, but eat elsewhere.
We came for a roast on Sunday the beef was incredible and we got a whole plate of yorkies for the table. The bread and butter pudding was really good. Will definitely be back
