the warrant officer is in the process of a gradual renovation and I am quite sure that many people wait until the kitchen open, as the expectations of a large menu with delicious food are high! I went to an open-mic night, which was held on the last Sunday of each month and was led by rentertainment uk. a good mood, a great music, an extensive selection of drinks available, pool table, darts board and a beautiful gar... What Psul K doesn't like about The Warrant Officer:
Have been using this pub on regular basis for many years. The last 3 visits over the last month have disappointed. The pub is managed by the 'Wild Card Brewery ' folk and has had NO Cask Bitters or Pale Ales available for the whole of the last month. Wild Card Brewery is less than a mile away. You couldn 't make this up! View all feedback.
Positives: Very friendly staff. Great location. They have started serving some decent wines. The decor could use a bit of improvement (but the disgusting gray carpet remains. Apparently a kitchen is being built, so that is much needed in the area, as there is currently only café food available. Negatives: Intimidating for a woman alone as it is the type of place with older men admiring on Saturday nights. As a woman always in the minority in this pub, it is not a family-friendly place for couples. It attracts a slightly dangerous element. It can be a bit scary. (see above). It feels very old school. People are playing darts and everyone knows each other. No one here is under 30. Music/entertainment is centered on jam sessions for the 60+ age group, for example, with bands and old-fashioned pub style.
This is my neighborhood pub, but I don't visit it often. The staff is friendly and the owner is welcoming. The Sunday roasts are delicious. I think it could become a hub for the community by offering a wider beer selection and serving food all day. According to CAMRA, pubs need to adapt to survive, and adding a gastro-style menu could help. With its potential and large local customer base, this pub is a hidden gem just waiting to shine.
The Sunday lunch was perfect for a family of 8 with young children, the food was well cooked and being in a pub with drinks was also good. The owner came and we had a nice conversation, it was lovely to find a pub serving a proper Sunday meal. We will be back.
Amazing, friendly little pub on the outskirts of the city, with a fantastic selection of different spirits and liqueurs as well as artisans lagier and ales to enjoy. great live music too. also one of the few places still with darts and swimming pool!
Friendly locals. Open up on Saturday. really good singer and great publikum. great, friendly staff.
