Carl's Steak Subs - Feedback

Was Pete Taylor at Carl's Steak Subs a mag?
After seeing this place featured on Phantom Gourmet, I knew I had to give it a try. I have to admit that I'm not usually a fan of steak bomb subs, but Carl's steak definitely impressed me. I will definitely encourage my friends to check it out! View all feedback.
What Peter C dislikes about Carl's Steak Subs:
I made the mistake of ordering a chicken sub. I had hoped for a fresh, breaded chicken cutlet, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a frozen tender— and not even a good quality one. View all feedback.

I've lived in Waltham for most of my adult life, and even a decade after moving away, it remains my favorite spot for steak subs and other grilled items.
Until my next trip to Philly, this place definitely satisfies my craving for a delicious cheesesteak.
First experience, saw something about it on Instagram, and turns it's not even 2 minutes from my place of work, so figured I'd try it out.Service was pretty quick- simple transaction. Had to listen to a 2 minute conversation of pure Boston accent small talk while standing right in front of the cashier but I'm not really in a rush so I'm unbothered. Checked prices beforehand so I wasn't shocked. However when I get back to the office I take my (teriyaki steak and cheese) out and they wrapped it like a poor baby being left off at the fire station at 3 in the morning. Hasty, Greasy, and Very Squished. Could only salvage half the sandwich as it instantly fell apart after trying to get a grip, and decided to stuff the remains back into the bag to take home and concoct later to save myself the embarrassment of trying to put it back together Infront of all my coworkers.HOWEVER, I must say that once I got my mouth on the half that somewhat stayed together, it was actually quite tasty! not bad at all. hence the higher review than the text may yield.Overall, not bad, Just the yapping and wrapping set me a little aside. But we're all humans here, so I won't hold them too much on that.I recommend eating it in the safety of your own home. Kind of an embarrassing feat to attempt in an office setting.
Stick to the steak and cheese; the chicken cutlet sub is made with frozen chicken fingers. Charging $15 for frozen chicken is honestly quite disrespectful.
Nice bun, good portion size. Good sub but nothing too special.
Nestled conveniently near many workplaces, this sub shop garners attention for its impressive steak and cheese offerings—praised as some of the best in Massachusetts. While some patrons report mixed experiences with service, including inattentiveness at the counter, many rave about the deliciousness and consistency of the food. The chicken parm and unique steak combinations have won over regulars who traverse far for a taste. However, the small venue can lead to parking woes and less-than-ideal takeout experiences. Despite minor service hiccups, this spot remains a beloved choice for hearty, flavorful subs worth the trip.

Consistently the best steak and cheese on the East Coast!
I live in the western part of the state and have been wanting to visit this place for years after seeing it featured on Phantom Gourmet. The ladies at the counter welcomed us with smiles, took our order, and we had our subs on the table in no time. I ordered a small steak and cheese, which is larger than what you'd find elsewhere. The sub was packed with steak, and the roll was soft but strong enough to hold that generous portion. It definitely lived up to the hype—it's the BEST steak sub I've ever had. I can't wait to return!
The Chipotle steak sub was fantastic, with just the right amount of spice and a perfect filling.
Great sandwiches. The cheese fries were delicious too. Only have outdoor seating though (we didn't realize that until we got there).
Simply the best steak subs I have ever had. Whenever I travel up to MA, if I am. Within 30 mins of Waltham I will make the trip for em.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing! The steak sub is among the best I’ve ever had, and honestly, everything on the menu is fantastic. You absolutely have to give it a try; you’ll definitely want to come back for more!
I drove up from East Providence after discovering this restaurant on Phantom Gourmet, and it was definitely worth the trip. I ordered four different steak grinders, and each one was unique and delicious. The service was quick and friendly, although the waiting area is quite small. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. These are the best steak grinders I’ve ever had, and I'm so glad I made the journey. Thank you, Phantom Gourmet!
I must say I haven't had a good sub in a long time I'm from Connecticut and we where in Boston visiting and this sub spot came up let's just say we where not disappointed this place is a must (15 minutes outside of Boston we will return
Stopped after work. Never disappoint. Brought my son who had never had and he thought he died and went to heaven.
Best steak subs I've ever had. The steak is chopped for easy chewing. I recommend the Cherry Bomb.

I've lived in Waltham for many years and often overlook some of the hidden gems in the city. One issue with Carl's is that they have no parking available at all...

Listen! I don’t even eat or like steak, but this was amazing! My mother-in-law recommended this place to me, and I was really skeptical at first, but after checking the reviews, I decided to give it a shot...
