Reviews - Jay Dee's Deli

American, Coffee, Sandwiches

Reviews summary

A longtime, no-frills deli celebrated for reliably good breakfast and lunch sandwiches, a cozy front porch and a quiet patio that give it a homey charm. The tightly focused, limited menu favors prepared foods and quick takeout; seating is minimal. While many praise friendly service, others report brusque staff and inconsistent hygiene. The interior is dated and shows signs of grease, and parking/visibility are constrained by the neighboring post office and roadwork. Expect straightforward food in an unpolished, politically blunt setting—great for locals and breakfast seekers, less so for the picky or health-conscious.

Was Judd Smitham at Jay Dee's Deli a mag?

Since I was little. Workers are always very nice and casual. The best place to get a breakfast sandwich in the whole city. Definitely recommend going there as I have time and again. View all feedback.

What Mike P dislikes about Jay Dee's Deli:

I dined there recently, and the sandwich I ordered had an unusual taste. I didn’t think much of it at the time and ended up discarding half of it. Unfortunately, I felt quite unwell for the rest of the evening. The grease on the walls was excessive, almost as if you could scrape it off with a shovel. I won't be returning. View all feedback.

Quick service at this hidden gem of a deli. The Breakfast Philly is an amazing sandwich!

Have stopped in here now and then for years. It's a fairly small deli with not the best parking. It being adjacent to the postoffice can make it not the easiest to get in and out of. This is especially true since the post office closed the other entrance/exit because of the bridge update Made visibility very poor, creating a hazard. So it can be tight getting in and out for parking. But not drastically so.I like the front porch area. It gives it a homey feel. The inside is dated because in reality, it is an older building. The deli itself is more of a no frills deli. They do not have a large assortment of items. They tend to stay on a smaller scale and concentrate more on their prepared food. I have had numerous sandwiches both breakfast and lunch type. I have never had a bad sandwich over many years. But to be fair, some are better than others.I have sat to meet friends and have coffee and a bite at one of the two or three tables they have for their customers. Again, it's a small deli. But the lack of product choices allows for being able to sit and have coffee and a bite to eat. It is a nice trade off compared to busier deli's.All in all it's a nice little deli. From my experience this is not a politically correct type of place. As such people feel welcome no matter what they believe . If you're OK with that, you might like it. If only your opinions matter, maybe not.

I really enjoy the patio area—it has a secretive, cozy vibe. Inside, the decor feels a bit outdated, which is understandable given that it's an older building. This deli is more of a no-frills establishment. They offer a limited selection of products and prefer to focus on their prepared foods. I've tried numerous sandwiches there, both for breakfast and lunch, and I've never had a bad one over the years. That said, some sandwiches are definitely better than others. There are just a couple of tables where you can sit and enjoy coffee and a bite to eat while catching up with friends. It’s a small deli, so the limited menu encourages a relaxed atmosphere that’s a nice change from busier delis. Overall, it's a lovely little spot. From my experience, the vibe here isn’t politically correct; people seem to feel welcome regardless of their beliefs. If you’re open-minded, you'll likely enjoy it. If you only value your own opinions, it might not be the place for you.
