Come on Monday evening for dinner and wine. The staff was friendly and attentive, the food was exceptional, and the house red mix was great. Happy Hour Drink Specials until 6:00 were a nice bonus, too! View all feedback.
The Marcus Whitman is charming and a enigmatic throwback to an elegant, graceful time. The lobby is simply amazing and looks like it is a part of a large hotel. The service was good, the room was well equipped and everything in a great hotel. They offer a free breakfast for the guests and it was very well done. Easy to find in Walla Walla (it is, by regulation, the highest building in the city). Very enjoyed the atmosphere and the room.
Marcus Whitman is historical where someone would like the most beautiful hotel room in the city. Today it is well worn and needs an upper to lower refurbishment. I'll focus on two areas. First, housekeeping and cleanliness were not acceptable during our stay. At check in our room we found empty soda bottles on the floor from the previous guest who was not picked up. Spinning fabrics were lined in the window shades. Daily householding is due to security precautions that just say a different way to reduce costs without saying how much. You can see the toll that the lack of housekeeping service on the rooms maintenance cleaning such as dust and care for the carpet just does not happen anymore. The table we sat during breakfast, which was supposed to be clean, had two or three spoons of scrambled egg from a previous diner under the table and on the seat of the stand. It looked like a child had thrown an egg around in a high chair and they never clean it up for the next guest. I guess that care for the health and safety of customers is only as far as it allows them to save costs. We went to breakfast the next morning. Secondly, everything in our room was just tired. The wallpaper in the bathroom looked like something my mother had chosen in 1995. The cherry furniture was scratched, has water rings on the top finish, and again looked like something from my late great aunt 's senior apartment, which she decorated in the 1970s by Ethan Allen. The windows were completely locked, leaving a design and a few additional street noises. Interestingly, the bed was very comfortable. We like fixed beds, and I thought the strength of this mattress was excellent. The writer who checked us never asked how our stay was. For the price we paid in winter, lower than some of their competitors such as Courtyard and Hampton, and the location in the city, I was fine with these questions and that's why I gave him a 3. I wouldn't be okay with that during the high summer prices. The hotel has a new owner group and I hope they spend the money that is necessary to correct these problems and restore this hotel to its former glory. Because it's just, it takes a lot of work before I get back.
Go back to the time to elegance with beautiful appointments that are maintained with love and attention by the house personnel. It's more than a hotel. It's an experience. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The bar offers a wonderful selection of wine and whiskey and you can learn something or two from the bar staff. And the food in Marc, in a word, wonderful.
Great hotel to stay and relax. Breakfast is delicious! We were in a luxury suite. Comfortable seating and beds. The bathroom is large and spacious. The lobby is great. It has a fireplace that you can sit and enjoy with a cup of coffee and friends.
Right in the midst of downtown, there are so many places one can just walk to. Free monitored parking, complimentary full breakfast, old world charm, fair prices, helpful and friendly staff are all part of the experience of this great hotel. For our November visit, we really enjoyed sitting in front of the fireplace in a small room next to the very glamorous and large lobby. Built in 1924, it offers an authentic art deco feel.
