Reviews - Foo Chow Asian Buffet
Reviews summary
**Exploring Local Cuisine: A Mixed Bag Dining Experience**
Nestled within a bustling area, this restaurant presents a buffet-style dining experience filled with a variety of Chinese dishes. While the food is generally decent, it lacks standout qualities, with highlights like salt and pepper chicken drawing praise. Service is satisfactory, but improvements could enhance overall satisfaction. The atmosphere is average, failing to leave a memorable impression. Parking is ample and convenient, making access easy. While some diners enjoy a good experience, issues such as unavailable staple items and mediocre desserts suggest that the restaurant has room for growth in both food quality and service.

Everything was hot and the buffets were kept filled and clean. Dietary restrictions: I didn't add any soy sauce to not add additional sodium to my daily intake. Most people with dietary restrictions will enjoy dining at Foo Chow if they are mindful of what foods are okay or bad for their diet.
There were only about two decent dishes in the entire buffet. The kids didn't even want to eat the noodles. The staff was friendly, but the food was disappointing and not worth the price at all!
This was my first visit to Foo Chow, and I found the staff to be very attentive. We arrived right as dinner service began, so everything was hot. The food selection was decent, but the flavors were pretty basic, which is typical for a Chinese buffet. Unfortunately, the skirt steak in the steak and pepper dish had been over-marinated, resulting in a somewhat slimy texture that was less than appetizing. However, the sesame chicken and spare ribs were quite good. Since it's a buffet in Louisiana, you can expect the usual boiled crawfish and shrimp. Overall, it’s a typical Chinese buffet experience: the place was clean, the staff was quick, and the food was just okay. I have to admit that I'm a bit of a food snob when it comes to Asian cuisine, having lived in Southeast Asia for many years and tasted authentic dishes directly from the source. It can be tough to fairly evaluate a place like this when you've enjoyed homemade gyoza and yakisoba.
The crawfish was terrible today; it was black and mushy. I've been coming to this place for over three years, and today was by far the worst experience I've ever had.

This is your standard Chinese buffet. Waitstaff was nice, food was average. No issues with anything when we dined here. Prices are clearly posted, we had seafood-shrimp and frog legs-on the buffet and no surprise charges on our bill. We also didn't get more food than we could eat so we had little waste on our plates. They serve crawfish. A couple came in after us and ordered 2 huge plates of mud bugs. I don't know if it is a separate thing to order or if it is also on the buffet. I don't like them so i didn't look for them on the buffet, if they were on the buffet line, i didn't even notice.
The buffet bar was extremely hot, and the steam burned my wife's hand when she reached for food. The steam made the food overly hot to handle. Our bill for a family of four, including three drinks and a water, came to $75. If I had known it would be that pricey, I would have prepared a meal of better quality for the same or a lower cost. I won't be returning.
The only issue I have is more of a wish than a complaint; I really hope they bring back the Hibachi. Other than that, it's a great buffet with delicious dishes in a clean setting, all at reasonable prices.
I absolutely love the buffet choices, and the prices are fantastic. The seafood is only available during dinner. Prices are from November 2023.
I guess since it was between lunch and dinner when I went the food wasn't as fresh as i hope it would be. The wait staff was quick to pick up the plates off the table and getting refills for your drinks. I guess if you ate one asian buffet you ate them all.. same food selection..

**Restaurant Review** **Meal Type:** Dinner **Price Range per Person:** $20–30 **Food:** ★★★ The food was decent but not exceptional. **Service:** ★★★ The service was satisfactory, though there is room for improvement. **Atmosphere:** ★★★ The overall ambiance was average, lacking a distinctive charm. **Parking:** There was plenty of parking available, with free parking in the lot. Overall, it was a satisfactory dining experience, but I believe there is potential for enhancements in several areas.
The food is incredibly delicious, and there's a wide variety of Chinese dishes to choose from. I dined in for lunch, and the cost per person was between $10 and $20. Both the food and service earned a perfect rating of 5, and the atmosphere was also outstanding, receiving a solid 5.
The buffet is quite good. However, the hibachi grill is no longer in operation. In terms of parking, there are usually available spots. I dined in for lunch, and the price per person ranges from $10 to $20. There is plenty of parking available, with options for free parking as well.
On a positive note, I tried the salt and pepper chicken for the first time and found it to be excellent. The chicken on a stick was served without the stick but was incredibly flavorful. The coconut shrimp was the best I've ever had at a buffet! However, I had to deduct a star due to my experience with the ice cream and frozen desserts. I sampled two items: a popsicle and an ice cream sandwich, both of which were freezer-burned and dehydrated. This suggests that these items either don’t sell quickly or aren’t rotated properly during inventory restocking. I checked a few other packages, and they felt similarly unappetizing. While desserts aren’t usually the main attraction at buffets, I think they would be better off with a simple soft serve machine and cones instead.
I had a craving for egg rolls and Chinese food, so I decided to try the takeout buffet here. As I was filling my container with food, I noticed they didn't have any egg rolls available. I mentioned this to one of the staff members, and he assured me that they would be ready soon. However, after waiting for 10 minutes, they still hadn't arrived, so I ended up leaving without them. It's surprising that a Chinese restaurant would run out of such a staple item. Overall, I would rate my experience one star, and the food a three.

I've dined there several times, and I have no complaints. They offer senior discounts and special deals on certain days, making it a great value for anyone looking to enjoy a meal.
