Ignore the haters. This laid-back comfy place covers every possibility you need for a good on-the-road Mexican place. It's on twisty US 127 with plenty of parking; covered deck for the summer. Adequate restrooms. Clean and well maintained. The food is solid and inexpensive. The chips and salsa are plentiful and a tad spicy. My group of five added guacamole and seemed pleased. A wide range of choices and beef and chic... View all feedback.
What Abby D doesn't like about Ayala's Mexican:
Not bad but no alcohol except beer and seriously watery queso! I mean like picture ketchup (or just queso) that has the consistency of water. The food was decent of course I ordered a burrito with water (I mean queso). I would go back but I wouldn't rush back. View all feedback.
My husband and I recently moved to the mountain and decided to go try Ayalas out. We were treated and sat down right away, the service was great. (The music was also great! My husband ordered beer and I got the Michelada they were both great and iced cold. I ordered the super combo that has a bunch of options, it was good I would say my least favorite item was the hard taco and my fav was the Chile relleno! My husband got the Pollo Picoso and it was in fact Picoso(spicy really good! We will be back soon, and if they read this please start a Karaoke night

Adequate restrooms. Clean and well maintained. The food is solid and inexpensive. The chips and salsa are plentiful and a tad spicy. My group of five added guacamole and seemed pleased. A wide range of choices and beef and chicken enchiladas, soft tacos, and burritos were thumbs up. My chorizo con pollo was the best I have had outside of Nashville, with the chicken tender and not overcooked. The Spanish rice is also well prepared. Service was attentive and not pushy. We could relax, do some business talk. No worries. Look forward to the next visit
This is the first local place we tried after being on Signal Mtn. I 'm giving it 3 stars because it 's okay. First off, weren 't greeted warmly and I figured a small, family run business would be happy we chose to have a meal there. Secondly, the food wasn 't as good as I 'd hoped. I ordered the you pick two and had a burrito and taco. I asked for black beans in my taco and literally received only black beans in the taco. My bean burrito was okay. We had the guacamole and it was also just okay. The texture was almost a purée. The salsa was quite bland. The service was fine. A young man helped us and he was attentive and kind. I 'm disappointed and will probably venture further down the mountain to look for more Mexican restaurants next time I have a craving for Mexican.
The food quality has dropped over the years. The queso is so watered down it's nothing enjoyable and don't ever order takeout because the portions are smaller. The covered patio is nice but the bugs esp flies are awful. I hate giving bad reviews but y'all, this one's a long time coming.
Just go to El Metate instead... service and food not that great. They do not serve margaritas.
