Reviews - 2ate7 Cafe
Reviews summary
Perched above the Wairoa River, 287 Cafe is a convenient, unpretentious stop with pleasant views, solid pastries and standout dishes—especially a much‑praised fettuccine and caramel slice—and useful facilities like toilets, ramp access and a liquor licence. Hospitality is uneven: friendly moments are offset by slow, inconsistent service, occasional wrong or missed orders and a sense of being overpriced for the quality. Good for a quick roadside break or dessert, but expect basic surroundings and variable service, particularly near closing time.

Nice views. Quite a large, rather basic menu, but the food is fresh and tasty. There is a good food counter. The caramel slice was amazing. Good access (steps and ramp). We felt it was slightly overpriced. The service was pleasant. View all feedback.
What Glenn Brown dislikes about 2ate7 Cafe:
I ordered two medium takeaway coffees in KeepCups and was charged $12. Typically, similar drinks at other places would cost around $8 for two with reusable cups. Additionally, we found the menu options, branding, and pricing information lacking at this cafe. The menu is quite pricey, the atmosphere is uninviting, and the overall environment feels a bit run-down. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning. It's a shame becau... View all feedback.

Of the beaten track cafe 287 thought we would support the locals. Unfortunately we arrived close to closing time, and were rushed to order, eat and leave. 2pm closing time I had the bacon and egg pie which was beautiful, pity on being rushed out.
Called in at 287 cafe on Sunday, very run down limited food options couldn't even get a toasted sandwich my order didn't turn up at the table so had to go and ask for my food just to be told that he had forgotten it , while I was at the counter a guy was made the wrong coffee so the attendant ask some else to serve the man his coffee and with that went and sat down not even a sorry to the customer. Know we will be going into town for coffee and eats, BEST OF LUCK WITH YOUR SALE hopefully some one will take over that cares about customer service.

Very overpriced for what you get and it took nearly an hour to come out when there was barely anyone in the cafe. For $28 I would expect something amazing but what I got was very average and not worth it. And you can’t get water for the table you can only purchase bottled water
Not a great experience. Overpriced meals and the staff communication is very poor. Some of our meals were served to the wrong table after we had been waiting for a long time and one meal was missed completely. Won’t be going back ??
Went for lunch today, never again First, got told it wouldn't take long to prepare. We finally got our food 45 minutes later. I got the fettuccine chicken and bacon, the chicken was SO tough it was inedible, and the sauce tasted like vinegar they didn't deglaze the wine properly). Then discovered my daughter's omelet was BURNT! Absolutely disgusting all round, the cook giving me attitude was the last straw. We really look forward to our day out in Wairoa, the experience we had at your cafe just ruined it :

The fettuccine is absolutely amazing! I can't get enough of it and always order it whenever I visit. It’s even better when it’s loaded with sauce, but unfortunately, there wasn’t much sauce in it today.
We had a fantastic time last night, enjoying delicious food that was tailored to our preferences. The open chicken sandwich, beef tacos, and cheesecake were all absolutely amazing...
We waited over an hour for half of our table's orders, and then had to wait an additional 15 minutes for the last person's order to arrive. Overall, I was not impressed!
Came out for a Mother’s Day lunch with my family ... waited over 30 minutes for chicken nuggets and wedges ... ordered a ice chocolate watched while...
