Heard about this place from co workers and because it's on the west side, I find the drive a hassle. But when my former mentor invited me for lunch I happily obliged and it was one of the most pleasant and delicious places! We both ordered a lunch set, mine was veggie tempura and had all the wonderful side dishes. He ordered a tofu steak to share and oh boy it was phenomenal! This place is pretty straightforward all... What Kina S doesn't like about Kuni And Catering:
The food is mediocre for the price. The service is not that good, it took almost 20 minutes us having to look for someone to get the check pay by that time after paying the mahu bartender just shrugged us off without even saying thanks or goodbye. Which was extremely awkward lmao. The place is cute, but I wouldn't go again. Nor would I recommend it. View all feedback.

A friend and I went for dinner on a Friday. I made a reservation online through yelp. That was easy and stress free. Later during the day after reservations were made, a member of the staff called to confirm reservations and made sure we didn't need any special arrangements for dinner. When we got there it was busy and the restaurant is split by a wall it is kind of weird sectioned off) one side is dining area and the other half is bar and dining. We sat on the bar side. The room is small and congested seats aren't as comfortable as I'd like but it's not a big deal. My friend and I ordered the 2 for $100 deal that we shared. It came with miso soup, rice, pickled veggies, chicken katsu, fried tofu, tempura veggies, sashimi ahi and dipping sauces. It was placed on a wooden stand which I thought was bulking but the table wouldn't have been large enough to place on table individually. They offer mixed drinks but we passed on that. There was live entertainment during dinner. All in all the experience was cool. I was just bothered about the wall that separates the two dining areas. It's also so crowded as far as spacing the tables. Our server/ bartender was great and kept checking on us. I'd go back
I apparently didn't post my original review which wasn't a great review. We decided to give it another try today and I must say today was so much better that the last visit. The food and service was on par as well as the portions since our last visit. We were so happy to see Sato there and it felt like nothing had changed. The also renovated and it now has a more modern feel but still serving the same great food. We will definitely be back for more.
Great Reno with still great food and Sato San still doi sukiyaki was ono and the sizzling steak
My wife and I went to this place last night for dinner. I would have given the place a rate of 5 stars but there were some reasons below. Let me say this, for those that don't want to read the whole review, the food was awesome and the staff were super friendly. Definitely a place to go again. Reservations: This one was really weird. One of the reasons for a 3 star. This is the first place I ever had to put in my credit card to make a reservation. Then I get a text from the restaurant to confirm my reservation (which I just put my card on to secure or I would be charged), which I confirmed. Then a little over an hour prior to my reservation time, I get a phone call from the restaurant asking again to confirm my reservation. Kind of over kill, in my opinion. We get there on time and the place is packed! Thank God we made the reservation. We got seated right away. They took our order. My wife had the Restaurant Kuni Special (Saimin) and I ordered the Teishoku with miso butterfish and tonkatsu (I was hungry). Normally, the food arrives at the table together or about the same time so people can eat together. How restaurants do this timing thing is beyond me. My wife gets her food, but I had to wait almost ten minutes before I got mine. That's the other reason for 3 stars. Wish I took pictures of the food. Sorry, was kind of hungry. The miso soup was awesome! First mark of any good Japanese restaurant is the miso soup. Salad was prefect as well. My wife could barely finish her Saimin. It was packed with so much stuff, it'll make the Zipmin look like a joke. When I did get my food, it was so worth the wait. Butterfish was melt in the mouth and was so ono! The tonkatsu was that perfect crispy coating and the meat was moist inside. It was that perfectly fried pork chop. My only regret, wish I didn't order so much. Couldn't finish it. The staff were super friendly. Someplace I know will be a very successful local hotspot. I remember the old restaurant, food was good back then but, the new look and food is a massive improvement to what it was. All the reasons for a lower score will be fixed over time as the restaurant matures. Highly recommend you visit and check this place out.
