Feedback
I read great reviews and they were all deceiving. The food was quite terrible in this restaurant.. It was my fifth time in Bourgogne and only time I ate really badly. First of all, menu is fixed, so if you have allergies to something they cannot change it. Second, the service is extremely slow. There is one chef and one waiter, so even if you come early, they serve you same time with orher tables that come much later. Third, the food is tasteless. Even the bread that they brought in a basked was uncooked. I didn’t know you can eat a bad bread in France. Overall this was a big mistake!!
Arriving in Volnay after a long morning of cycling, we were rather rudely turned away from the most visible restaurant in the village. We wheeled our cycles just around the corner discovered L’Agastache. It was a set menu of extremely good value, 28 euros per head 1 entree, 1 main course a dessert but each course was spectacular. We started with a divinely delicate gazpacho, followed by tender chicken with butter beans a very lightly spiced sauce (containing a secret mix of spices) finishing with honeycomb Ille Flotan. All washed down with a fabulous white wine from Saturnay. The service was exceptional it was such a pleasure to chat with some friendly french diners who rated the restaurant as highly as I did.
