Nestled in the picturesque Volcano Village, this charming cafe offers a delightful blend of vegetarian and vegan fare set amidst an enchanting garden environment. While the creative atmosphere and friendly service create an inviting experience, some guests have reported inconsistencies in service, particularly regarding limited hours and availability. The menu, featuring artfully prepared dishes, has received mixed reviews, with some praising its freshness while others found certain items lacking in flavor. The cafe also boasts a unique gift shop showcasing local artistry, making it a must-visit destination for those exploring Volcanoes National Park. Reservations are recommended for larger groups.
We were looking for something to eat in Volcano and happened upon Cafe Ono. The food was delicious and we purchased some great gifts from Volcano Garden Arts.
This is truly a GEM of a location. Not just a good lunch but ART EVERYWHERE and so many plants! I actually enjoyed it more than most botanical gardens. It was a perfect lunch spot for our toddlers to run around while we ate in the garden. Then we got to enjoy the walking path through their jungle/yard. The owners were so nice and attentive too. Truly a special experience.
It’s been a number of years since I visited this magical place but it is forever in my heart. There’s certain places you visit it your life that touch your soul and stay in your happiest dreams. This is one of those places. Ira Ono is a warm and wonderful person. He was so gracious and thoughtful to us that I still remember it all these years later. High recommend this wonderful place as a must see. It is my goal to visit it again.
The Cafe Ono was a great lunch spot while visiting the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. The menu is all vegetarian. Although I'm not vegetarian, I found the food here flavorful. I enjoyed sitting outside under the parasol in their art garden. Also, there isa local art/craft store, and it's fun to visit while waiting for your food. There aren't many restaurants nearby the park, butthis is a great place to eat. Staffs were all friendly, and the service could be a bit slow, but you are in Hawaii, so relax andenjoy!
A true gem! Do not miss eating here if you?re in Volcano. We loved the quiche, the curry special and all the fixings (soup AND salad) as well as the vegan carrot cake. Everything was fresh and so delicious and checking out Ira?s gallery and gardens wereso special. Even in the rain!
