We took a risk and didn't book in advance but luckily they had a table I would advise booking even though the restaurant is not in the tourist centre. Staff are friendly and some are more than happy to speak English if you can't...manage German. The Wiener Schnitzel wow thought it was delicious. This place has good service, tasty food, and a nice atmosphere. A lovely spot for an authentic dinner.
On a solo visit, early evening, I enjoyed a quiet table at the bar of D'Landsknecht and had perhaps the best chicken schnitzel I've ever eaten. Also the potatoes, salad, local Gruner wine delightful! It's a homey, down to business neighborhood place, and they certainly know how to cook amazing Austrian dishes. Wish I could eat there right now.
