What Laura Damico doesn't like about The Ruby:
This place hits all the retro-signals except the pricing. I went in with a friend thinking this might be a place for an ordinary bacon&eggs experience without the Denny's (just a block away!) corporate feel. We had no wait time (a plus), even at 9 a.m. The colourful hotel on site (Motel Zed) suggested a funky vibe. There's plenty of parking, interior is like the old Laugh-In set. Excellent service, food like no other-fresh, local, house made condiments. Beautiful coffee, fantastic atmosphere. If I’m in town I’m breakfasting at The Ruby on Johnson View all feedback.

Why haven't we come here before? All those great meals we could have had! Very good kitchen producing for a good menu.
I was visiting Victoria for a few days, which meant plenty of time to check out brunch places.
Excellent service and great atmosphere. The service was great. The food exceeded my expectations. The brisket is off the charts.
We visited for brunch and realized the diner was attached to a cute little upscale motel(?). I had the Chicken Rotisserie Hash and my partner had the Smoked Bri...

read moreThe Ruby Restaurant, located inside the funky Motel Zed on Johnson Street, offers a unique and eclectic dining experience. The interior is reminiscent of the Laugh-In set, with well-spaced tables and attentive waitstaff. While the prices may be on the higher side, the food is fresh and delicious, with a variety of options to choose from. The menu includes breakfast tacos, brisket waffles, and even a Fried Chicken Benny. The staff is accommodating and friendly, making sure to cater to any dietary needs. Overall, The Ruby impresses with its quality food, excellent service, and cozy atmosphere.
