We came to this place looking for a Szechuan style fish soup. The friendly and attentive chef/owner prepared it for us right away asking how spicy we would like it to have on a scale of 1 to 10. It was delicious! This place is a bit off from most restaurants in Chinatown but definitely the best pick if you want to have authentic Chinese food. View all feedback.
After we live 10 years in China, we appreciate authentic Chinese dishes in Canada. the cozy place is where they can get them. we had die fry aubergine, kartoffel and green pfeffer (which was my favorite in china,) sauteed pigglock pepper and...chili, fish fragrant aubergine (no care, no fish involved) and the cozy place chow mine. these dishes brought us back to china! scott and amy were great hosts as well as chefs. we would definitely recommend the cozy place and will be back soon!
We ordered tonight, and despite the desire to order our favourite dishes as usual, we decided to try a few new ones. they didn't disappoint. our old favorites are the dragon eggplant, garlic shrimp jump rolls and the die fried green beans....And now we add the die fried lamb with cumin. we were already ten times at Cosy Square, and eating is consistently excellent. definitiw the best Chinese restaurant in the city. hands down, no competition.
Located on Douglas Street across from the Public Market this unassuming little restaurant in nestled beside two other local eateries. While the menu is relatively limited the food is excellent; we especially enjoyed the shrimp spring rolls which were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious and...the black vinegar pork short ribs. As there are only two people working in the kitchen and they also wait on tables the delivery of dishes to the table can be a bit slow or not well coordinated. But they are so friendly and their food is so tasty no one really minds. Because the place is usually uncrowded (at least at night) there is little noise so it’s a good place to have conversation over dinner. Another nice thing is that imported beer is the same price 5.50) as domestic. Overall, a nice cozy place for dinner!
Was in the mood for Chinese, and after reading reviews decided to come to The Cozy Place. Restaurant is very unpretentious, in a small strip center, as is the restaurant, but food was fantastic. We had Garlic Shrimp Rolls, Vinegar Short Ribs and Chow Mien. We...are trying to get back before we leave as there are many more items we would like to try. It’s great to see a husband and wife team working hard and hopefully doing well.
Nicely unpretentious, the PLace is straight-ahead Cantonese food that is simple, solid, and satisfying. Lovely folks too!
