Stopped in for lunch. Great little place. Quite busy, which is no surprise. The food was very good and the service excellent. Well worth a visit if you're into Mexican food. View all feedback.
What mciann doesn't like about La Taqueria:
Tacos are a nice snack. Order at least two if you're hungry. Chicken mole was quite good. Cauliflower Baja also very nice. Crispy not too greasy. The actual taco shells were too greasy for my taste. Service was prompt and friendly. All wearing masks except a cook whose nose was exposed/ mask only covering his mouth. This is NOT COOL. View all feedback.
I spent $25 on three tacos $30 after tip). It was barely more than a snack. If the tacos were gourmet and mind-blowing or at least really filling, the price would be justified. But one of them was meh, and the other two were very good...not excellent, just very good. The fish wasn't even something nice...just some unidentifiable white fish. When I to to pay, somehow the tip suggestions start at 18% even though I have to go up to order from the till and fetch my own water in a tiny cup? Should we really be asked to tip for being directed to a poorly-lit bench in a self-serve cafe? What exactly is that extra money for? I know costs have gone up, but this was a lesson in someone soon parted from their money.
Great Mexican street food, lively atmosphere, super-friendly and very welcoming. So happy to have found it on our first evening in Vancouver.
Alfred was very attentive and took great care of me. Good recommendations and tasty food. Make sure to have the steak taco.
Remember the old Wendy 's commercial, Where 's the beef? A friend and I each ordered a burrito, one pork, one chicken, and all my friend could say was, Where 's the meat? When we dug into the admittedly-huge burritos, all we could find was Mexican-style rice and refried beans. In each burrito was _perhaps_ two to three level tablespoons of meat. When you pay $16 for a burrito, you should get a healthy portion of flavourful meat in it. Instead we got to imitate the old lady from the Wendy 's commercial. Extremely disappointing for the price. We will not be ordering from these guys again. 'Pinche ', indeed.
The self-service approach to get a glass of warm water didn’t seem to be the most sanitary way to do things these days, but the crispy chicken burrito was decent and interesting. The staff seemed to do a good job; but there could have been another server on the floor. The churros were a rip. 6 bucks for 4 little tired churros doesn’t cut it. We would consider returning, especially if it looked cleaner next time.
