Contribute FeedbackKukus offers a vast selection of Indian dishes, ranging from authentic and delicious to disappointing and rancid. The butter chicken and desserts receive positive reviews, while the goat curry and some other dishes fall short. The service is praised for being helpful and friendly, with quick take-out options available. Despite some setbacks, Kukus remains a popular choice for affordable and satisfying Indian cuisine, making it a go-to spot for many customers.
I am currently 8 months pregnant and had a craving for Jalebi, so I decided to try Kuku's in Victoria BC, which I heard has the best Jalebi. I also tried their Samosa chaat, which was mouth-watering. They also have delicious curries, including chicken, mutton, and vegetable ones. The owner was lovely and friendly, giving us time to look at the menu and try their dishes. Their hospitality was greatly appreciated. I would give them a 5/5 rating and will definitely be returning to try more of their food and sweets.
Unfortunately, this was one of the worst Indian meals I have ever had, and I have had Indian food all over the country and internationally. The butter sauce, which was a key element in two of the dishes (butter chicken and vegetable kofta), tasted like Campbell's tomato soup with added chili powder. The chicken pieces were tough and tasted old, while the vegetable korma lacked the usual fresh vegetables and was a brown mush. The aloo gobi was also a similar brown mush, indicating the dishes were old and reheated multiple times. The chilli prawns were very tough, and the vegetable biryani rice was essentially rice mixed with frozen vegetables. The Naan bread was reminiscent of Costco Naan, buttered and heated, rather than being baked in a Tandoor oven for a crisp, charred exterior. Overall, I was extremely disappointed.
I bought 2 samosas and they were the best I've ever had! Perfectly crispy and with the chutney sauce to dip, was the best, Highley recommend ????
The staff are very friendly and inviting ,the food is amazing and they have a very yummy sweet selection.I was super impressed.
While traveling, we stumbled upon this restaurant and asked for assistance. The owner was incredibly friendly and even treated us to their signature curry for free. The butter chicken curry was exquisite and the spinach and cheese curry was a delightful new experience. The dessert was also authentic and delicious. The owner recommended some great places for us to visit and overall, we had a fantastic experience. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant in the future.
